I wasn't at all aware of the Glyde until this morning, and it looks very enticing. I'm a heavy text-messager and I find little need for the internet on the go. With that said, the Glyde may be a better choice for me than the Blackberry Curve recently announced by Verizon. (I'd hate to spend the additional $30 a month and not use the smartphone features.)
The review wasn't terribly clear in talking about ringers and vibration: I use my phone for my primary alarm clock- will this thing wake me up?
Can't wait to fiddle with it at Verizon..

Well, if it's anything like the Voyager, you will be disappointed with the touchscreen. The lack of responsiveness is the biggest issue. I'd actually recommend the Env2 if you're a big text message user and occasional internet.
I personally just got the Curve and it's amazing. But it's at the cost of the extra 30 bucks as you mentioned previously.
...
The EnV2 looks TOO focused on texting, if you feel me. Plus, I'd rather have a screen with a nice desktop to look at when the unit is closed rather than a line or two and a huge keypad 🙂
I wonder..can you purchase the Curve and NOT get a smartphone plan? Even if you can, it feels as if it'd be overkill just to get a QWERTY texting phone. Perhaps if I did purchase the Curve, I could add the $30 packet at a later date when and if I needed it.
Then again, the Curve is actually cheaper than the Glyde.. choices, choices.

They will not sell you a Curve without some sort of a data plan...so that probably isn't a good bet for you.
Yes, the env2 is focused on texting...isn't that what you said your requirement was? Sure, the outside screen is lackluster, but most of the time you use the phone, the thing is going to be open. The whole touchscreen phone thing is lost on me...seems pointless and very difficult to do correctly (see iPhone for the only really good example). But then again, that's just me.
...
I text a lot, sure, but not ONLY text. I would point majority-texters to the Env2 without hesitation, but for imaging, customizing options, and general eye appeal, I'd prefer the Glyde over LG's offering.

You can't spell or punctuate either.

Try the phone I have, Samsung U740, it's pretty easy to use for texting, but you need small fingers.

Yes, since I originally posted this comment I've visited Verizon and I enjoy the phone.
I plan to pick mine up next week, and yes the small QWERTY pad may be something new to get used to but I'm willing to try!
I'm also curious about texting on the touchscreen actually.
My only small, small complaint from my hands-on is that I wish the phone had been less beefy and a little slimmer.

Yeah, I guess it takes some getting used to and the touchscreen is fun to use. I like that it's beefy because it makes it easier to hold and fits in my hand.
