They will not sell you a Curve without some sort of a data plan...so that probably isn't a good bet for you.
Yes, the env2 is focused on texting...isn't that what you said your requirement was? Sure, the outside screen is lackluster, but most of the time you use the phone, the thing is going to be open. The whole touchscreen phone thing is lost on me...seems pointless and very difficult to do correctly (see iPhone for the only really good example). But then again, that's just me.
