Whats the point of annoucing the phones if there unlikly to come over to america. Personaly tired of all these Stlyish EV-DO Handsets coming to sprint and verizon when cingular only has 2. Why are companies slacking on the america HSDPA Network. It will never grow if they don' make handsets so i'm tired of hearin things like. O the network isn' big enough or anything like that. Come out with something innovative and let the network follow it. Cingular doesn't have any catching phones but the f&(&*$&( razor so of course HSDPA won't grow if they don't get more out there. Also I'm tired of UMTS when HSDPA is out, why release 2 different phones seeing as though HSDPA phones aren't that expensive.

LG CU500 anybody? only about 100 bucks for all...

So your're saying.....Samsung and LG can't announce that they've developed new phones because you might hear about them her in the US...even though they're primarily for European use? Phonescoop is cool enough to pick up the news worldwide for everyone...are they only supposed to display news local only to the US. Regarding Cingular phones, why would Cingular sell tons of phones for a network before it's ready? Did Verizon have phones developed for EV-DO before it was widely available? Should everyone start selling phones for the AWS spectrum that was just sold off even though there isn't a network structure setup yet?

Read my reply to omagus, its the same answer to you also yes actually verizon did have phones in development before EV-DO came out. LG-8000 and that Audiovox they had was annouced way before EV-DO's launch, But don't take my word for it ask Rich. Either way Like HSDPA is out and they need to slow down on all these crappy looking EDGE phones and come out with more innovative phones under there HSDPA network now that its out. Phonescoop pratically announce's a new EV-DO handset everyday. Its about time Cingular starts announcing more to. I know they must have a large line up of each categorie but they have enough edge phones, Now all I hear them talk about is aquiring phones that where already out for T-Mobile like the pebble instead of gettin...

Dude, what are you talking about? You should only hear about phones that are coming to the US? Hate to break it to you but MOST phones (and especially the most feature rich ones) don't make it to the United States.

And I don't understand your reasoning: handset makers should make phones that work on a network that doesn't exist yet? Yeah, that's a great business decision.

what are you talking about , HSDPA do's exist, they can now make whatever phone they want for cingular, well besides video calling. I'm not saying they should stop announcing new phones worldwide I'm just saying i'm tired of not hearing anything about cingulars development. It doesn't seem like anything unique is coming to the HSDPA American Network.

This is news because they run S60 3rd Edition, and they're not Nokias.

Nokia has had limited success licensing S60 to other manufacturers, even though it's a great smartphone OS (especially the new 3rd Edition). This is potentially (hopefully) the start of a new wave of S60 phones from manufacturers other than Nokia.

As for your gripes about Cingular 3G phones, blame Cingular. Manufacturers would be more than happy to make awesome high-end HSDPA phones for Cingular, but Cingular doesn't seem to think there's that big of a market for them.

Yea I did notice that to, lol I was to mad to make a note about that. The fact that there not nokias is a big thing. I actually like these new phones to. Yea I won't get on the companies to much but I would really like to know where Cingulars going with there business decisions. Man I wish I could voice my opinion in sometype of way.

Rich is right about pointing the finger at Cingular instead of the phone manufacturers. Companies like Motorola aren't going to make American frequency phones unless they have a contract with a carrier to do so. There is almost no market here (except for us nerds) for unlocked factory original phones. There will be at some time, with the advent of Nokia and Sony Ericsson stores.

But I don't think "blaming" Cingular is the thing to do.

Understand they JUST launched their 3G network and it is far from massive. They are simply taking baby steps with this. The money that must go into R&D, marketing, and distributing these phones must be unspeakable, and imagine if all that money goes towards a flop (like the LG CU320)?

Our HSDP...

Face it...when it comes to mobile phones, the USA just plain sucks. Every European and nearly all Asian countries are far and way better than USA. What we have in the US today is what Europe and Asia had 3-4 years ago. Why is that?

because we as americans are slow in adapting new technology, it's that, "as long as it calls" mentality we wont see any nice phones, the manufacters are making these run of the mill basic phones because thats all most people want, it sucks that we are not as tech saavy than the rest of the world, we are a minority, but the younger generation are a big market and are more tech saavy
