$400 phone and $17 goes to charity. I'm sure there will be spent more on advertising their great charity than will go to the actual charity itself. Just write a check for $17 and skip these crappy phones. I would write a check for $100 if i didn't have to get a motorola.

The razr hasn't been a $400 phone in a long time. And I don't think the V3m was ever a $400 phone, even when buying it outright with no contract.

i agree that condoms would help. seriously. along with some education on how and why to use one. unfortunately condoms cannot help the millions of people including many young children, who are already affected by AIDS.

Yeah, true, can't much help the already effected, I understand Africa isn't exactly one of the most productive counturies, but heck, condoms aren't expensive.

🤣 Its funny seeing the ignorance in message boards. Africa is a continent not a 'counturies' as you say it.

And yes condoms aren't expensive but when your YEARLY salary is under $200 then a $5 box of condoms is a 2 weeks pay check!!!

The ignorance in America and the ignorance in Africa on this disease is what allows this plague to grow by the minute. Its sad to know that its some tribal beliefs that having sex with a virgin will cure you of HIV/AIDS. So how can a 12 year old rape victim "glove up" in that situation. And as luck would have it she gets pregnant and now her child has AIDS as well. This happens daily there. I think if the media would do their job and report actual news, there wouldn't be the economical and social env...

i agree that Americans/the world is largely ignorant of the AIDS situation, and many other crises in Africa. While the obvious scapegoat is the media, still, the media plays what sells.

I am not saying this is right, but I am saying that the media is more or less indicative of what people want to see, it is not that the media is just doing its thing without regards to ratings.

think about it - the first time you see an ad for Compassion or World Vision showing starving children, you might be really shocked for a moment. But after your mind is made up that you can't afford to help or whatever, you stop watching those. You probably rush to change the channel. people don't like to feel sad/guilty/grossed out by situations like these.

I know this is coming in several days late, so I guess Jayshmay will never read this but I have to say something. This post pissed me off like nothing else I've ever read on PS. I thank GOD that you had the foresight to allow yourself to be born in a country where you have access to the proper education and medications that you need to live a properly healthy life. "Africans are too stupid to use condoms?" WTF? You're too stupid to use periods at the end of sentences, but at least you have been taught how. Stupid mofo. Someone not being taught something does not mean they are stupid. Knowing something and refusing to do it makes you stupid. And that's what you are. And yes, I AM AFRICAN.

well, the way I see it, if you are going to buy a phone anyways, you might as well buy this one and help someone out. People in general won't send money just to help places out, but people will buy something over another thing if it goes to a good cause.

i agree it would be better to just send your money over there, but then again Americans aren't the best at being generous. this is a good way to get people to help who normally wouldn't.
