Yeah this is crazy. Its not like the demise of analog hasn't been coming for years now...

Now they want the rest of the world to be inconvenienced and hold off whatever great new things we could use that spectrum for.

In most markets, Analog almost takes zero spectrum. Most of the analog systems are in software radio, and the channels are used for other purposes while analog calls are not in place.

Cingular, for example, has restricted a *lot* of markets to only one concurrent analog voice pair. Thats right! There is only capacity for one analog call per cell in some markets!

Wrong. Two dedicated Analog voice channels and a common control channel per sector (A cell usually has 3 sectors).

Wouldn't the new uses only be voice and data in the GSM and CDMA families?
