Why would they think this would work in the first place?

Did ESPN (Disney) really think that they could make this MVNO work? Come on.

They were marketing to people who already have cell phones, and the 2 year contract to go along with it. Switching carriers is a hassle, and most people do not want to go through all of that just to get some sports scores.

Anyone who really wants this stuff already can on their existing phone. I have an a900 with sprint, and am able to access all the data that the ESPN a900 could, and I'm sure your phone can too.

Try again in a few years with more content, cheaper phones and better pricing, and we shal see.
