267 million people, and they only spent $2.4 billion, in joint ventures with cable companies.
Hmm... I wonder if this was the 4G spectrum sprint needed, or maybe the TV broadcast spectrum for DVBH (or similar technologies)??

Neither. That spectrum is already allocated.

Sprint Nextel already has the 2.5 GHz spectrum they need for their "4G" WiMAX network. That was half the reason they merged with Nextel; Sprint owned licenses for half of the country, and Nextel owned the other half.

DVB-H (via Modeo) and MediaFLO already have their own national slice of spectrum as well.

This new spectrum will be for something new, and they might not have even figured it out yet.

It doesn't really matter... What matters is that both Sprint and the cable companies are in the communications and entertainment business, ...

No, This auction has nothing to deal with reception at all. This auction is for data purposes so that companies can launch 3G & 4G services.

Also the network isn't the only factor in reception. It depends on what handset you use too. But again this auction has nothing to deal with voice coverage or anything to do with calling. It is simply for data only.

After staring at the screen for a good 3 hours trying to figure out what exactly his message is, I just read a couple of his posts elsewhere and it looks like he's a verizon lover. I'd rather go with Sprint 😎

Hell, I'm a verizon lover and I'd rather switch to Spring than listen to him all day! 😁

If there's a question (that's totally off topic), it's this - why does LG make such decent phones for verizon, but such craptacular ****ty phones for Sprint?

Yea, spectrum co, who are the cable companies and Sprint, did a very good job with expanding their existing licenses. Now, they can do anything they want and they can increase their capacity by adding it onto their new joint venture they have over their existing assets.
