The Specs....to clear up confusion

Since everyone keeps starting new threads asking if the phone has this or that I'll just post what is known so far (collected from various sites as well as "people in the know")

Screen: 176x220 262k TFT
Speaker: Mono (on the front of the phone)
Speakerphone: Yes (available at launch unlike the 8500)
Stereo BT: Yes
Removable Memory: MicroSD
Camera: 1.3 MP
Flash UI: Yes (new themes)

Basically this phone is the love child of the 8500 and the 8300. Pricing should fall right inbetween the two as well so that should make a lot of people happy.

Honestly the 8500 only has 1 speaker and it doesn't bother me. I mean how often do you use the external speaker to listen to music other than annoying the people you work with??!? If you want the full stereo experience you are gonna have to stick with the 8300.

the full stereo experience... For some reason that's funny to me on a cell phone. Stereo bluetooth is sweet and all but honestly, like you said, when does anyone bust out their cell phone and start rocking it like a boom box anyways? I just found that amusing for whatever reason. Maybe it's because I took 2 Stackers about 2 hours ago. GOOD TILL YOUR HEART POPS!! I'm done

The problem with "Stereo Sound" on a device that size is that you aren't going to get the full stereo effect anyhow. With the negligible space between the two speakers, you may as well have mono...

My b/f does that all the time with his Motorola V360. We'll be walking around and he just ups and starts playing music, or if we're sitting around, or we're in a car ride. Same thing with my Samsung T809 and the Blade, and the Fusic...

I mean why not want a music phone if you can't share your music outloud! That lame Verizon commercial shows everyone with their headsets on bopping to nelly furtado and then letting their friends listen with the wired headset... I mean eww why would you stick something in ur friends ear that u had in ur ear. Not to mention many of those headsets don't fit right or are uncomfortable for people to wear.

How about u play the music and u both sit there and jam.

Could you explain what you mean by

"Speakerphone: Yes (available at launch unlike the 8500)"

The 8500 doesn't have speakerphone now or at launch. What does it mean that the 8600 will have it at launch?

Well, all the Chocolate needs is a software update to enable speakerphone abilities and LG is currently working on it. It didn't have it at launch, but it will eventually have it, whereas the 8600 will have it right from the get-go.

There is a s/w update for the 8500 that is going to be release very soon that will add speakerphone as well as some other stuff (see my post here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t= 979810&page=10&pp=15)

I was simply making a point that it will come with the speakerphone option at launch and not a few months later after they realize it was a bad idea to leave it off like the 8500.

Cool! That was the only reason I wasn't considering the Chocolate. But I prefer flips so I might wait for the 8600.

I'm confused, the article said that the display was a lower resolution to the 8500 so does that mean it's 65k?

No there arent less colors... just smaller resolution than the Chocolate... the chocolate is 240 x 320 while this phone is only 176 x 220...
