Verizon Wireless Offering Same-Day Screen Repairs

This service is most likely being run by Asurion. They just took over the Service and Repair business in Sprint full service corporate locations.

Not so fast. Squaretrade is a better value and in most cases you can get instant gratification with them too. In most cases a 3 year protection plan for $100 or less, and a brand new or certified refurb'd device with a similar deductible. I've had multiple iPhones switched out at the Apple store under my Squaretrade plan and they mail me a check within a few days of receiving my receipt. Yeah I have to pay for the replacement out of pocket but I quickly get reimbursed.

Colossal ripoff.

If you break one per year, it's $200 for that first repair.
