The store sprint rep. told me last week that motorola was making a new razor type phone that will be a candy bar style for sprint. He did not know a release date for it though, I was just wondering if one of these may be the one because there is a CDMA verson in this group.

The SLVR L7c spec sheet I have from Motorola says "BREW 3.1.2"...

I don't know if it was a "feud" per se.

It happened around the time of the transition to 1xRTT.

You see, Motorola used to make its own CDMA chipsets just like Nokia. But when 1xRTT came out, they had trouble making good 1xRTT chipsets, so they switched to Qualcomm chips. That ended up being a rocky transition for them. I think it took them a while to get the hang of engineering good phones using Qualcomm chips.

My guess is that after one too many crummy phones during that transition period, Sprint just gave up on Motorola. It's taken them a while to get a real second chance.

Well, doesn't Evil Verizon use 1xRTT also, and as far as I know there hasn't been any absense of Moto handset with Verizon over the years, only with Sprint, . . .am I right?,. . .or?

True, but boy did Verizon have a heck of a time with the notorious T720. Yikes! 😳

That was around the same time. After that, Verizon did pretty much put Motorola on a 'probation' of sorts. The only new phones they had for 2-3 years were PTT phones like the T300p and v60p, and that was because Motorola owned the PTT technology Verizon implemented, and only they could make good phones for it at first (Samsung never did release the A690).

It wasn't until the V710 that Motorola got back into Verizon's good graces. There was that 2-3 year period where Verizon and Moto seemed on shaky ground, too.

I have heard the same thing about the SLVR L7c from a guy at the Sprint Store here in Dallas. The only problem I see with the SLVR L7c coming to Sprint is that on the specs that Phonescoop & Motorola provide, it says the phone is running BREW, not JAVA, which is what Sprint uses. This is a good indicator that the SLVR L7c is going to be a Verizon exclusive and Sprint may or may not get it down the line. There's no way to tell. Sprint is just frustrating.

I don't think it's Sprints fault if they don't get this phone. Aren't different companies contracted differently with the manufacturers? Isn't that why Sprint didn't get in the "oh so wonderful" RAZR.....lol

Sprint is working very hard with Motorola. They will get more Motorolas specially since Motorola owns iDen. They will work together on many upcoming projects. don't get sad or mad at Sprint remember sprint has a much better and complex platform compared to the other providers
