Considering the level of complaints this site receieved from customers expierencing the exact same scenarios as the article outlined, I'm not surprised by this one bit.


Cingular immediately began dismantling and degrading the AT&T network, forcing the latter’s customers to move to Cingular’s cell network.

As a result, according to plaintiffs, customers had to buy new phones, move to higher-cost plans, and, in some cases, pay an $18 transfer or upgrade fee. The suit said some customers who tried to go to another company were hit with early termination fees of $175, while others who didn’t want to or couldn’t pay the fees were forced to ride out their contract with AT&T Wireless while suffering poor to no reception.

number one, if they re-brand to AWS, you won't have to get a new phone, unless of course you don't want to have the old cingy logo on your phone. its not like they're gonna take down switches or anything like that to move back to the old AWS towers... all they'll do is send out an OTA that flashes each of the phones to display AWS when they're in service as opposed to Cingy...

second, the only reason why people are complaining and suing is because they never read their terms of service... if people actually read the terms of service (you know, that booklet full of leagal mumbo jumbo that everyone throws away right after they sign the contract) they would see that there are plenty of CYA (cover your ass) stipulations that cingy, or any ot...

well, that gas station bit is a bit unfair. if you leased a subsidised car from a gas station and that car ran on, hm, 93 octane, 15 percent ethanol gas and then the gas station switched to, say...E85, you would want a new car. i wouldnt be asking for an S Class, but maybe a being let out of my lease on the now-poorly-working (and possibly not working at all) car without a termination fee would be nice.
