To add insult to injury, if the UI wasn't bad enough, then there's the OLED outer display on a phone that obviously has a focus on it's camera.... lots of people like using the camera with the phone closed, and they can't do that with this expensive pile.

Sheesh.

actually the top of the phone swivels so that you can use it with the flip closed

Sheesh.

Actually, the display twists, so the main display can face out when closed, like this:

I just want to thank Rich Brome for pointing that out, bc that feature really makes it feel like any old digital camera, when your holding it, and the screen is facing out in view finder mode, you can actually forget it's a phone, I know, I have the Sharp V903 now for over 2 months,

I don't even know why people can complain about this mobile, bc if they do, they're not innovative people, and I don't even know WHY they would visit a site such as Phone Scoop!

This one will be much, much more popular than the previous one in this model line.

This phone will be more popular than most of the people on phone scoop think. This is very similar to a phone in Europe and the one in Europe is popular and very nice ๐Ÿ˜Ž . This phone looks a lot like it and I tell you what, "who needs a 3.2 mega pixel camera," with this phone many people who have no digital camera or not a good one will love this because 3.2 mega pixels is still a good quality picture ๐Ÿ˜ . I know because I know someone in Europe and he took pictures all day and video recorded and man when I looked at his screen and his pictures they where very nice especially for a phone.

I'm curious, what phone is this that your speaking of that your friend in Europe has, really, the reason I'm asking is bc I have a mobile that is from Vodafone called the V903, mine has a 3.2mp camera, stereo speakers built-in to the side of the screen, mp3 player, miniSD, swivel screen.

I live here in the states though, Las Vegas, Nv. And I'm using my Sharp V903 on Cingular's network. I'm just wondering if my phone is the one your talking about.

If so, the one BIG advantage mine has over the Samsung A990 is mine has a 2X optical zoom

on the UI on the chocolate phone, so its not a flash UI like the 8300? or it is and even further improvement on that. thanks

When I talked to the Verizon customer service guy, he told me that they all have the same UI because it's more user friendly to all demographics, considering that you don't have to completely learn a new phone every time you upgrade. IMHO, this paired with the BT cripple just means Verizon is a bit too control happy.

That's like saying who needs HDTV or even standard cable TV when you can watch any of the big 4 networks for free? In 5 years, you'll be wondering why anyone would have a low rez 3.2 meg camera.

Wow!

If there's one thing I've learned today its how to get a response. Thank you, ArmySF, for making it clear that if I want attention, just say something terribly opinionated, negative and brief! Like a flash flood, we'll all jump in and sweep away everything in our path.

What fun!

How 'bout we all make a date of it for when the Chocolate comes out?

what I don't like is at what point does it become more of a digital camera then a cell phone..... look at the lens on this thing its huge.

Jul 6, 2006, 4:54 PM
Well in order for the Hi-Rez Cam to take in the light for a high quality pic, it's gotta have a lens that's bigger than half a dime.
...
Rich Brome

Jul 6, 2006, 6:01 PM
The lens may look huge, but actually the phone overall is relatively small and light considering the features:

the phone is way too big to be carrying around as a cell ... it seems cool i'll wait for them to come out with one that is a lot smaller ... also its very expensive ...
...
Jayshmay

Jul 7, 2006, 3:20 PM
The reason it's expensive is because it's sophisticated, FEATURE PACKED, you want something cheap, you can MINUS the mp3 player, minues, the 3.2mp camera, minus the GPS VZ Navigator, minus the memory card slot, minus the stereo speakers.

Cheap equals, no features, no innovation! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

What are you talking about? This phone is the same size or smaller than pretty much all the mid to high end phones verizon carries ๐Ÿคจ .

The razr and 815 are as wide or wider, they are taller, and the razr only beats this in thickness by a little bit. it is pretty comparable to a 930, or LG8300 w/out the antenna. Not a big phone at all, and esp. considering all the features. Its predecessor, the 970, is the biggest phone(not pda) that verizon carries with the possible exception of the 9800, and it didn't even do all the stuff this one did. imo this is going to be a pimp phone in every way. ๐Ÿคค
