since moto is making these hybrid phones, i wonder if moto will stop making iden only phones and just move their production just to cdma/iden hybrid phones for sprint, and i wonder they could make a slim phone maybe even a razr that has cdma/iden on it and i wonder why moto didnt make a iden razr, i know the razr is getting old but i was just curious about it

here are my ideas for a high-end cdma/iden phone:

form factor: candybar, slider, or flip thin phone
variety of colors
big screen, maybe qvga
cdma 850/1900
iden for dc
evdo or 1xrtt for wireless data
NO DAMN EXTERNAL ANTENNA!!!
bluetooth
mp3 player w/ a micro or minisd slot
advanced personal management features or even customizable ones
windows mobile or palm os

if any...

No Razr type phones (because of the PPT button apparently). There are still going to be iDEN only phones made. There are still a bunch of them that people KNOW are coming.

And that phone (or at least a bunch of what you want) probably isn't that far off. I'm guessing mid next year, unless qchat is out, which would rid everyone of the need to get an iDEN phone. So then any company could produce a high end phone that could 2way everyone. I'm guessing Moto and Sanyo would both have one.

IDEN = FOR CONSTRUCTION/BUSINESS.
what happens when you drop a razr? CRACK! just ask my repair associates... they get about 7 per day.

IDEN phones are BRUTES! plain and simple.

hahaha! yeah, me and my friend(who used to have the old i90, both of us) used to play hackey-sack with our phones. We used to kick them back and forth and ****.... i tell you that i90 could take anything youd do to it, and the catch it, IT WASNT EVEN MILITARY SPEC! so i can imagine what the ones what have military spec can do... 🤣

you know what i kinda noticed that, it was meant for business and construction customers who need a big sturdy phone and trunked radio ability(ptt) but i been noticing "everyday" people using sprint iden phones even tho its not meant for "everyday customers" i think thats y they made the i870 for regular customers to satisfy that market with a stylish phone

and trust me the razr aint tha best phone out there, but the impact it made was impressive, causing other companies to make knock off versions of it and it started a new "thin phone" trend

🤨
The 870 is "stylish"??
Its just a feature packed brick with a crappy bluetooth transmitter

I wonder if Nextel realizes they can make some nice phones, and some that still look like rubber coated schoolbuses or bumblebees.

Uh.... what? Motorola doesnt like Nextel..?
Yes, Im sure they hate them, for pioneering the technology that allows Nextel to be in business (PTT)

I know Moto makes the phones, but I would venture a guess that Nextel (Sprintcorp.) has SOME input into it.
It isnt like the guys down at sprint corp open a box one day, and BLAMMO... new iDen phones!!

It was a simple concept when I said that Motorola doesn’t like Nextel and the evidence proves it. I will only state a few cases of that; 1. The phones such as the 730, and 930 were very horrible RF type devices that Nextel didn’t want to put on the network especially after the problems but Motorola wanted too. 2. The 6:1 voice coder was delayed 3 times and even after the latest time Nextel’s engineers still weren’t happy with the problems that it was facing when it was placed on the network. And finally 3. WIDEN was also delayed a year or so because Motorola couldn’t convince Nextel with this upgrade because it hurt some of the capacity in many areas.

Those are the 3 big reasons why and there are others which I am sure if you look you ca...

usually I would say that you are to iDEN as I am to CDMA... but you should know that there wont be a RAZR type iDEN phone. There will be "thinner" phones... not thin phones.

So you want a thinner treo 700 with an intenna and DC?

Let's rally to palm, if everybody does, they'll make it!

Oh, wait it'll be $799.99 before rebates, or something else ridiculous.

$400? the least expensive current palm or windows phone is the treo 650 (kinda discontinued though because of the 700) and it's around $500 or so after being out for a year.

Actually there are rumors that there will be an IDEN razr type phone but I wont speculate further. I am sure you can Google it and you can see.

It would be cdma 800, 1.9 not 850.

Just an FYI, these types of phones are in the works but they are waiting to see the response of this non-feature rich type phone in October.
