how can you already be bitching about them not developing a phone that runs voice/data on both iDEN and CDMA ... THIS IS THE FIRST PHONE TO RUN VOICE ON CDMA AND IDEN ON PTT!!! Give them some time! honestly... i would have LOVED to hear what some of you people had to say back a few years ago when cell phones were the size of coffeemakers! i can just hear it now "ohhhh thats sooo big why cant they make them smaller..."

and im sure some of you bitched when the RAZR came out "oh thats not thin enough" ...

now your bitching because the phone doesnt work the way you want!?! be happy sprint is releasing this phone as a START and just wait to see what comes ... before you complain!

I might have said it better myself, but I dont have to considering you did. 🤣

To hit a few points from the other posts about this article.

1. Sprint never promised a phone that did BOTH networks completely. This is the exact phone that Sprint has talked about since day one.

2. Sprint promised to keep the iDEN network up until 2010 for CONSUMER use. They aren't just going to flip a switch at that point and turn it off. It will most likely be usable for the customers that haven't switched over yet after that point and be marketed for public safety uses. Sprint just wont sell it anymore to the average Joe.

3. The CDMA and iDEN networks CAN NOT speak to each other for the purpose of "soft hand-offs" when you go into the other...

that would be amazing if phones could perform fallatio, just kidding lol, but i think its cool that sprint are going to release cdma/iden phones, iden as far a voice sucks and the dc is only temporary but i think its a waste, but im just wondering how long it will take for sprint to deploy rev a. for its ev-do network, because sprint can use qchat instead of iden, iden is a failure because motorolla refuses to liscense iden to anyone else i think motorola should give other companies like sanyo or samsung the right to make dual mode phones, so it can be more diversity in the looks of the phones, because iden phones are ginormous, i dont know why iden phones have to be that big, iden is not that different from gsm, and i wonder if motorola cou...

I was by a regional Motorola rep that there would never be a thin phone for iDEN because EVERYTHING revolves around "Push to do (something)" and that button apparently prevents them from getting thin. There are phones coming out that are smaller, but never a RAZR type.

As far as Rev A and a DC standard. You should expect Rev A to cover the nation towards the end of next year. (it will launch in some places 1Q) And you should hope QChat comes out next year. But who really knows... remember that next year is when the Cable joint venture starts. So there will be a LOT going on, I guess you should just keep your fingers crossed.

maybe all iDen phones are big and look similar because motorola wants the idens to be uniform so people can recognize them? ? not sure just a guess

or maybe they want us to lose our identity, and there overall dream is to rule the world via cell phones. a world where no one questions the "man" and they can sit in there office buildings getting fellatio from there high end phones while the rest of us are running around their world in an "ant farm" type manner.

or maybe it was designed for business and construction, and because of the technology it took them longer to get smaller handsets. personally I'm guessing it was the first reason.
