Will cellular surpass DSL/cable one day?
With such speeds, and such great mobile devices it wouldn't surprise me...
Or maybe it's already surpassed it and I just didn't know the statistics...

It's really hard to imagine what the wireless world will be like in 5yrs from now, but it's certainly going to be eXciting, that's for sure.
It seems as though there will be no EVDO or HSDPA, but ONE standard, so appearently EVDO and HSDPA will only anchor us until the end of the decade.

Seeing as how slowly 3G is rolling out in the US, it's probably too early to tell what 4G will actually be like. Plus let's not forget the politics of such an issue. Someone will always find a slightly different implementation of a standard (like J-Band CDMA). But nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what unravels.

I've read of tests that networks (if they a ton of spectrum) can get over 100 Mbps connections... I don't remember which technology, but I remember it was on phonescoop.

my vote is NO...the landline providers will just keep upping their network speeds to stay ahead of wireless...i think verizon just released a router for their FiOS service cabale of 100Mbps...besides if the wireless connection is faster than the wireline network its connected to u will still have a bottleneck and only get as fast as the wireline the wireless network is connected to
