besides cingular imo, sprint has a nice selection of phones, if i was still with sprint i would had got the blade, and the Samsung A640, and the katana would be my last choice, i tried the blade, it was really nice and the samsung a640 will be really nice, too bad it doesnt have evdo capability, it would had knocked all the other phones dead, and samsung really makes excellent products, featured-packed with a reasonable price and a nice design most of their phones

if cingular doesnt release UMTS/HSPDA in my area between the end of this year to nxt year(metro detroit area) which i really think they will, ill probably move back to sprint, but that is a last resort.

He obviously wants high speed... as soon as VZW catches up with Sprint's EVDO coverage area he might consider it. I've been using EVDO for coming up on a year now, adn VZW still hasnt launched it in my market.

Maybe because in some areas Sprint is better than Verizon. Just like Cingular is better in some places. Just like Verizon is better in some places. It all depends on where you are.

And when I just checked, Sprint had more minutes for the same price. (Verizon: 900 Minutes/59.99 a month [night and weekends at 9]-Sprint: 1000 Minutes/59.99 a month [Night and weekends at 7 included, PLUS free roaming, PLUS, overage minutes are only $.10/minute])

So, why do I stay with Sprint? Because if I ever don't have coverage (which I can't remember the last time I roamed), I can use practically ANY Verizon tower and not get charged extra. Two networks for the price of one? Yes, please.

Someone has been drinking the VZW kool aid! VZW and Sprint are actually very similar.. but I have been with Sprint for over 6 years and every time I look at VZW I think of all the friends that I have that complain about them. Sprint isn't perfect either, but give me a good reason to switch to VZW. Pay more for less? Okay!

CptFarlow makes a very compelling reason to stay with Sprint. And the Katana and Fusic are two very good reasons to stay with Sprint. Awesome looking phones!!!

Man... I need you guys to help me out a little in the VZW article discussion below this one. There are far too many VZW kool-aid drinkers in there. 🤣

I can't have Verizon at work. The corperation has determined that the do not have the best service or the best price so they have been removed from the list of approved providers.

Sprint has better prices. Where I actually live, in my apartment, Sprint has better service. Both my roommates have Verizon and they have to walk outside to get a clear signal.

One of my roommates has the Q. Nice phone, but he's paying $40 a month just for unlimited data. The same plan on sprint? $15. And while verizon is certainly ahead of Sprint when it comes to native voice networks, Sprint's EV-DO network is more expansive than Verizon's.

Yeah, the Q is real nice and at $199 it's a steal. But you pay the instant savings back to Verizon every month when they gouge you for their data. Compare costs of a sprint 700p with $15 data against a verizon Q with $40 data over the course of a year and see what happens. NET PRICE, inc...

The RAZR is a pile of crap...The A900 is a very good phone, and I just got to play with the demo Katana and it is very sturdy and comes in really cool colors.

Does anyone know if the Katana supports the Sprint Family Locator as a "Parent" phone?

actually i wouldn't say Razr wannabe b/c about 5 years ago Sprint/Sanyo had two phones called the 6200 and the 6400. They were actually like the slvr, just longer but more durable. It was very very light in weight. The pics are still on Sanyo's website under previous models. I don't believe it did very well b/c at the time flip phones were becoming more popular. It was also a 3G phone, but it was greyscale.

So I guess you think that because Motorola made the RAZR that no one else should make a thin phone? The blade is much better than any RAZR (this isnt opinion) and the KATANA gives an entry level customer the same form factor in an affordable manner. Variety you want? Go to a Sprint store and look at the phones. You will find more variety there than with any other company. I shop all carriers monthly just to make sure I keep up with current offerings and devices. Do the same before you come running your mouth about something as stupid as having more than one thin phone. If nothing else that creates more variety, instead of taking away from it....

That's the thing. The 6600 Katana ISN'T priced that lowly. It retails for $279, a hefty price tag, and at $99 with new activation is a bit expensive given the A900 can be had for the same price or less.

Is thin still in??? I would've thought the RAZR ruined the market. Man, you can't go down the street w/o seeing the RAZR.

Reminds me of that cartoon strip I saw a while ago where it's on the moon and you see three recycling bins: one marked 'Plastic', the second marked 'Glass', and the last one marked 'AOL disks'.... Seems to me pretty soon the last one will say 'RAZR Phones'...
