What about secondary lines?

Denny Strigl says:

Now, we’ll not only give you a phone for free
every two years. Customers with only a
$49.99 price plan can upgrade their primary
line handset
after just 12 months for the then
current promotional price and conditions.

What about secondary lines? Do we not matter? 😡

P.S. Merits Customers can already upgrade the primary line handset after a year

From a business perspective a $9.99 a month line really doesn't matter. This is where the catch is. From what I know it costs about $25-$30/month for a line to be active on the network, so Verizon is actually losing money keeping a secondary line active. That's probably why they failed to mention secondary lines.

SECONDARY LINES CAN BE UPDATED WHEN AN UPDATE IS AVAILABLE FOR A PRIMARY LINE. I HAVE TWO ADDITIONAL LINES ON MY ACCOUNT AND THAT'S WHAT NUMEROUS CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS TOLD ME. WHETHER IT'S AN EARLY UPGRADE OR NEW IN TWO, THE SECONDARY LINES CAN BE UPDATED WHEN THE PRIMARY LINE IS. THEY WON'T BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE $100 OFF BUT THEY WOULD GET THE PHONE AT THE 2 YEAR PRICE.

Will the primary line still be eligible for an upgrade at the same time. (Ex. Can I get buy one get one free phones for a primary line and a secondary line?)

p.s. turn off caps lock. there is no need to yell. 🙂

I'm not sure what exactly wil be with the new policy, but you are most likely mistaken. Who ever told you that if you get an early upgrade on secondary lines when upgrading the primary was mistaken. Right now, Verizon does alow for early upgrades on any lines that have a price plan of $59.99 or higher, or $70 for family share plans. Secondary lines do not quailify for an early upgrade at any time. (you can get 25% of retail with a new two year after one year on secondary lines)

This is crappy, yea yea yea, but if you consider that the subsidy from reatail is around $150 -$200 per phone for a 2 year, and they only make $240 on a 2 year contract for a secondary line, it makes no business sense for them to give discounts after only a year.

I don't know where you get your information from but if more than one person including a supervisor in customer service gave me this information they can't all be incorrect. I've seen people upgrade their second lines in the store all the time.

I've got to agree with the person who stated that you can't do an early upgrade on secondary lines. I manage an independent Verizon store and the policy only allows an early upgrade to a line that is on a rate plan that is $59.99 or higher, has been on that rate plan for at least a minimum of 90 days. Additionally the line must have originally been a 2 year plan and the customer must have the line active for 12 months. I would love to be able to early upgrade secondary lines but I can't see it happening. Hope this clears up confusion on the point.
