Good job Verizon! These changes are truly beneficial to the customer, and it takes a lot of trust and loyalty to pull of policies like these.

Now if only other carriers could do the same...

hehe, that sounds very good! I'm going to be switching to them in a few months ;), it was a hard choice for me, cingular vs verizon, but after reading so many reviews about cingular customer service, I think I'll pass. This looks really promissing, few more months and here I come verizon! ;)

Ha, I know this has nothing to do with this release and it's hardly going to change your mind...but I've had Cingular for a good while now and their customer service has always been more than helpful. Sometimes you'll only hear the horror stories...

Verizon is an excellent choice, however.

OK, maybe I'm a bit thick, but what do they mean, exactly, by "...that will prorate the early cancellation fee for all new subscribers or subscribers who sign a new contract..."? Sounds like another deal for new subscribers. Verizon has a lovely way of treating new people far better than those who've been there since Bell Atlantic.

They simply have changed the policies written in their contracts. It has to be for new subscribers or subscribers willing to sign one of the new contracts so that it is actually written into their own. The new contract will include the prorated ETF policy, as opposed to the ETF policy that is currently instated in today's contracts.

It's hardly anything that Verizon can help.

This, if successful, and it WILL be, will prompt the other carriers to follow suit. I'm on Cingular and plan to stay, but this is an excellent step toward fostering good customer service and loyalty. The idea of prorating the ETA in particular is welcome and much overdue...

But as mentioned in the above thread, not in all markets, and where they do the ETF is higher.
