Dont know why Sprint refuses to allow their customers to talk to Cingular customers? They cannot stop this.

Push to Talk will not take over until the following critera are met:

1) It is inter-compatible with a majority of carriers

2) It is readily availible to customers on almost every handset

3) It is as easy or easier to use than a regular call

4) It has some sort of financial benefit over a regular call

But it isn't there yet. Ease of use? Close. But all the others are not.

And before you make the argument, #4 is a moot point - Sprint charges $5 for either PTT or PCS-to-PCS.... no benefit. Others charge more for PTT than mobile-to-mobile.

Don't get me wrong - great option to have. Having the ability to talk to a group all at once rocks the house.

PTT is a perfectly good technology going backwards. We had walkie talkies LONG before PTT capable cells. We've since developed full duplex 2-way conversations in a portable format which can communicate with ALL other voice devices (LAN-line and wireless). WHY OH WHY would you want to go back to loud, annoying, half-duplex conversation which can ONLY work with other devices capable of PTT?

Granted there's group talking....but what's a conference call other than a full-duplex group call?

PTT is retro, plain and simple.

First off you're an Idiot, Sextel and Cingy use two different platforms to provide PTT, Therefore the are not Interoperable, So yes they can stop this seeing that its just not possible.
