I don't see why Danger/Sharp doesn't create a CDMA version of the Hiptop.

Hiptop + EV-DO = Killer combo.

T-Mobile's data is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Probably due to the whole "this is our flagship device, no you can't sell it to other carriers in the US unless you had pre-arranged contracts" thing that T-Mobile has with Danger. Exclusive contracts = awesome.

T-Mobile's data is EDGE & works just fine with an SK, which has its own server-side mobilizer. ;)

Can you explain why Suncom (US Based, regional GSM carrier) is selling the Hiptop?

He means T-Mobile is the exclusive carrier in the US. All other carriers get it a few months after T-Mobile.

Suncom is ALSO in the US... and they carry the Danger Hiptop 2. T-Mobile may have time exclusivity... but not total exclusivity.

I meant they have total exclusive right as a Nationwide carrier. Suncom is not a nationwide carrier. Plus, T-Mobile has authority over Suncom, when it comes to exclusive, since T-Mobile USA is the first carrier that will get it for sale. Suncom, Fido(in Canada), and will get it by the end of the year, maybe next year.

I spoke to someone that works at verizon not the store at the corp. She said that they are testing them and if they pass they will sell them it the same thing with the razor phone people thought it was just for gsm phone then verizon started selling them.

See also "pre-arranged contracts." To my understanding, SunCom already had started selling the Hiptop when T-Mobile negotiated their contract with Danger, so they still can sell the SK, they just get it later & as the Hiptop, not the Sidekick. However, T-Mobile isn't going to let any other national US carriers horn in on their flagship device.

sprint and verizon and testing them and if they are good which i doubt they will sell them. But sprint and verizon already have a great phone that does everything its called the treo 700p. The sidekick is for kids and people who gets paid to use them.

Or for people who don't like Palm OS, or for people who want an SSH client that doesn't freeze every three seconds or limit you to 60 characters, or for people who don't want a phone that crashes every three seconds like WinMobile 5...

I don't have those problem, but I guess like phone with no video feature you can't get on all web sites t-mobile is the worst service on earth , you can't watch movies on it, you can't customize it(like put your pic on the menu screen)the screen is crap and fuzzy, you can't make your own ringtone, it doesn't have a million of good appl that you can put on your phone only the weak 1 on the catalog, they just got bluetooth. I can go on for days but like I said its for kids and people that get paid to use.

I can't get on, what, YouTube? Big deal. I'd rather have a phone that does what I need for WORK (like SSH and Telnet) than what I want for FUN (like video or watching movies).

You can go on for days, but what you're talking is mostly ****. The SK3 doesn't have video, big deal. It still does what I need it to do for work better than any Treo (and honey, I have tried to SSH on those things, they're awful). You can call it a toy until you're blue in the face, that doesn't mean it's not a better text/email/SSH phone than any Treo. ;)

Also, do you not understand the concept of an "exclusive contract?" You're adorable, but you're wrong. T-Mobile has an exclusive national carrier contract with Danger -- VZW and Sprint aren't getting the SK3. 🙂

The only way vzw and sprint won't get the sidekick is if its totally crap which it is and I pray vzw toss that in the trash cause its not worth the time

Let me say this again really slowly, because you seem to not be getting it:

Exclusive.

Contract.

T-Mobile has a Exclusive Contract with Danger for the Sidekick. No, VZW and Sprint will NOT be getting it anytime soon, because it is... one more time... T-Mobile's EXCLUSIVE DEVICE. SunCom has it, but they're not a nationwide carrier. No, T-Mobile will not let another nationwide carrier horn in on their...ONE MORE TIME... exclusive contract.

I'm done with you. You just don't know what you're talking about. 🙄
