Wow, how long can Nokia continue to pump out the exact same casing with new features? These look not much different than the same old tired designs they've had since, uhh, always.

I dont like NOKIA because of their "redundancy" and cheap look.

I have to admit, although Nokia was probably one of the most user-friendly phones I have encountered, I still have to agree that most of their phones look the same. None of them really entice me to investigate any further than reading about them, which kinda sucks. 🙄

Nokia has the widest range of different type of designs available. Maybe not for CDMA, though, for which they have only few models, but who cares about CDMA in the first place?

Do you know the first thing about CDMA? Did you know that EV-DO is much much faster than EDGE??? Verizon and its CDMA network offers much more content than any GSM carrier does right now...

You can't compare EDGE to EVDO. EDGE is 2g and EVDO is 3g. Compare it to UMTS/HDSPA.

then they are up to par... But EV-DO is in its infancy and is already being improved on...

I'll compare, UMTS/HDSPA doesn't have nearly the coverage that Ev-DO does and with a year's headstart, it won't have the coverage.

I think what's most important is the speed of the most widely-available technology. EDGE is not as fast as UMTS/HSDPA or EVDO, and EVDO support is in more places than UMTS/HSDPA, this is true. But EDGE is faster than 1xRTT and it's available just about everywhere Cingular works. Kinda important for those of us in the boonies that want faster data rates. 3G support is still a couple years away from coming to my area.

A Ferrari is faster than a Lexus, but a Lexus is more easily obtainable. 🙂

Us CDMA using customers care.

Well, I care because CDMA is the only technology in my state, Montana in case you are wondering. Verizon Wireless is the only national carrier here, so they definataly blow the gsm carriers cingular and t-mobile out of the water for this state, since not one gsm carrier sells their service here. The only reason you said no one cares about CDMA is because YOU personally don't like CDMA, but I'm thinking alot of people like CDMA since for example Verizon has over 52 million customers, Sprint with almost that many, and Alltel with over 10 million, plus all the other regional CDMA carriers.

Add to this the fact Nokia fell off the EVDO bandwagon, and you've got needless handsets.

Nokia has always made a good product (IMO). Even their cheap entry-level handsets regardless of technology had good call quality... The funny thing is when they were huge a couple years back dominating the world market and they were asked why they don't make flip phones. "Well, there's no market for it." Boy, they learned the hard way in the US market, which is where they took their first hit.

I dont think I'll ever go back to candy-bar form.. its either flip/clamshell or slider...

When the Nokia 8260 first hit... EVERYBODY wanted one... Nokia didnt have any flip phones back then... except for this ugly nokia 282 which I think was available for tracfone...

its good to see some CDMA Nokias. I think that there is still a large crowd for candybar format phones and no one is producing them, why wouldn't Nokia want a piece of that? Clamshell is nice but IMO candybar is far more durable and is much easier for SMS (not having to flip open/closed each time)

Are you talking about Nokia or Samsung? Samsung is HELLA worse, they are notorious for the "add a feature, drop a feature, give it a new color and model number and hope the public doesn't complain" style of phone.

And why complain about candybar? It's SOOOO much fun to flip a phone open, right? And have it split in half when you press it too hard? Yeah, tons of fun...

Nothing against candy bars. How about innovating on the design of the candy bay? 8800 is nice. Moto SLVR is nice. Samsung T509 is nice. These, however, are the same crap design they've used for years.

Motorola at least changes the design every couple of years. I'm sure your talking about the razr everything, right? Well they went from StarTacs to V60's to Triplets to Razr and soon to the Canary. In all those design changes for Moto, these Nokia's look the same as always.

I'm not saying Nokia doesn't have other form factors (which are built by ODM's for the most part and not Nokia themselves), but they should put a little more effort in their bread and butter candy bars is all I'm saying.
