Dude,

Read you own message. YOU missed the deadline therefore YOU don't get anything. Had YOU not missed the deadline, then YOU would have a a reason to complain. I mean come on man...accountablity yo.

i see your point, wireless, but give the poor guy a break ... he had to wait six months before he could even send the rebate in, so what's a couple of days after six months. i know that with cingular rebates, if you miss the postmark date by a couple of days, the rebate co. will still honor your request.

I didn't even get ripped off but I'm posting this same message 3 times to prove a point - read the article and understand that mailing in the rebate isn't always just as simple as doing what you were asked no matter how bizarre.

"On example from 2004 alleges InPhonic required that consumers send in a wireless bill at least 120 days old to qualify for certain rebatesā€”but at the same time, the document had to be postmarked within 120 days of service activation in order to get the rebate."

I agree 100% It's one thing to be ripped off, but it's another to make a complaint when it's your fault.

To the average customer 2 days late on a rebate might seem like nothing, but imagine how far a company would get behind if they had to honor everyone who was 2+ days late? Talk about a waste of time. Get over it. It's your fault. You didn't send it in.

First and foremost if your going to buy a phone on-line, know ALL of the disclosures. I work for a wireless store, and I get customers that say wirefly has such and such free, and I'm like well yeah but you have to send in like 2-4 rebate forms just to get the deal and most of the time they have certain times you have to send it in. When here we don't even offer rebates we just cut th...

Negative. It is a shame so many people have forgotten what this great country is about. These companies aren't here so you can a have a fancy phone to impress your friends with or to kill time while your driving down the highway at 70 plus. They are here to make money. Period. This is not a charitable industry.

Wait a minute, you are forgetting some crucial facts.

Let us remember that these companies operate at the luxury of the consumer public. Afterall, it is our airwaves that they sell back to us after we subsidized their creation in the first place.

Did you forget that? I would say that is quite charitable of consumers.

Furthermore, like Dwranger clearly stated; the rebates are not always reimbursed, despite being filled out properly and sent in on time.

In fact, it even clearly shows that some of the rebates are nothing more then marketing ploys with no apparent intention of paying them.

Companies can make a profit sure, but there are such things as business ethics, and profit is not the almighty driving factor despite your ...

Rudimentary understanding?
Read your own bio: "Tech Bubble Survivor! The money others lost I gained, thank you very much." It appears to me that profit was your driving factor in surviving the tech bubble burst yet you state that "profit is not the almighty driving factor.." prior to insulting me.

Which side are you on?

Rudimentary perhaps..but not hypocratical.

"caviat emptor." It means, "let the buyer beware" and it is printed on our money. That my friend is in retort to: In fact, it even clearly shows that some of the rebates are nothing more then marketing ploys with no apparent intention of paying them.

Caveat emptor can not simply be used to discount business fraud.

Surely you understand that.

you're right, caveat emptor doesn't excuse fraud, but it does mean that b4 you buy from wirefly/inphonic you should read the shady terms and conditions of the rebate(S). BTW until there is a judgement passed in this case, is it really fraud? Although this all seems shady, i don't know if any of this really constitutes fraud.

It's like the EULA on anysoftware that we all just scroll to the bottom of and accept without really understanding. if you really read the conditions of the rebate they make no sense, that's a deal killer right at first glance.

Then every company in the world should stop their "customer service" bullsh*t, when we all know money comes before cutomer service, you throw people off when you lie to them from day one.

Quite Frankly the solution is very simple..

The telephone customer service is quite "STUPID". Just tell them its not your fault the postmark got delayed, it is the US Post Office which delayed it.. Generally they will ask you to fax it in again and than process it.

I dont feel bad about ripping InPhonic ( By 2 days..) as it is one of the crappiest companies in terms of its rebate policies. Additionally, just a few years ago, there were yet websites that used to offer phones with much better rebate policies ( 6-8 weeks ) but ever since InPhonic has become the monopoly that it has, one can expect to get the rebate back only by the end of your one-year contract ( and that too if you are lucky)
