Just CDMA?

Why would Moto limit themselves in such a capacity? Like the person before me was trying to point out, if they had GSM phones I (with my T-Mob service) could walk in, buy a phone, and use it right then and there. Aren't GSM phones at least half of their business? Whatever, the phone business in America makes about as much sense as the fist Mission:Impossible movie anyway...

CDMA is the future! CDMA is more efficient and faster!

lol.. i agree 😁 but it's probably because VZW might have paid a pretty penny for them to display only cdma phones. only an assumption

And the reason that there's only 2 countries in the world that use CDMA rather than GSM is. . .? 🙄

Given how (relatively) difficult it is to buy a CDMA phone & use it with your service (as opposed to GSM, where you'll simply switch the SIM cards), I'd be very surprised if this store didn't sell unlocked GSM phones. That is a huge market.

Wow, that couldn't be more incorrect. Before posting next time, have something reasonably correct to say. CDMA is used in a large percentage of the world, and future improvements to GSM are based on CDMA technology.

Not true. W-CDMA is not based on current CDMA techonology. It is not capatable in any way with current CMDA technology. It is actually based of GSM technology.

If you would of done a seach on the link you provided you would notice if you did a search for W-CDMA or WCDMA, pretty much all the results will be about CDMA2000.

Actually, WCDMA (which is probably best referred to as UMTS for the sake of clarity) IS based on GSM, thus why GSM carriers are developing their 3G networks using WCDMA/UMTS, rather than CDMA2000.

It is based on Qualcomm's research nevertheless.

WCDMA is based on CDMA and is the technology used in UMTS. WCDMA was adopted as a standard by the ITU under the name "IMT-2000 direct spread".

I honestly didn't know that there was that many countries that used CDMA. It's suprising to see that many carriers using them. Mostly in 2nd world nations, but still. I confess my tech elitism has caused me to turn a blind eye to less economically developed nations where CDMA is in wide use. 🤭

However, to say that CDMA vastly superior (as Protoge said) isn't quite accurate - why do so many nations in the West use GSM only? World wide, I'd bet there's a far higher number of GSM users than CDMA. And future developments on GSM use WCDMA (aka UMTS), which despite it's name, isn't much akin to CDMA or CDMA 2000 at all.

It's really more of a HD-DVD Blue-Ray thing - they're both really good but different technologies; the only ...

CDMA networks can support broadband-like high-speed data and more calls per channel.

You are correct though, there are many more GSM users worldwide but that doesn't make it better nor worse.

In the U.S. of A, CDMA is around 50% of the marketplace. Who cares about the rest of the world when it comes to CDMA! Yes, GSM is dominant worldwide but that's not the point here. Like it or not, CDMA is very strong in the States.

It has nothing to do with liking or disliking CDMA, it's about Moto making smart business moves, and opening a store that would sell half of the product for the desired market. If thet are gonna spend money to open a store, make the most money back is all I'm saying

Well, I do agree Moto should showcase GSM products there, too. My point was simple: CDMA is a force in the States.

Don't worry my friend,
If the Motorola Store won't be carrying any GSM phones, you can go to the Nokia Store four blocks south as soon as the 24th of June 😁
