Why wouldn't you just buy a low end phone for $90? Problem solved!

Yeah, that would make sense. Too much sense.

These rent-to-own places are complete ripoffs. If you look at the prices they charge, all the folks who rent from them would have to do is save up the amount they'd spend for rent each week for a few months, and they could buy the same product outright at a retail store. Electronics are the worst. By the end of the rental period, you've paid for that TV or computer something like four times over.

And, just to continue my rant for a bit, payday loans are even worse. If you aren't making enough or spend too much to get to the next paycheck, and you feel you need a payday loan, then how are you going to get it paid off during your next pay period? In other words, if you come up short now,...

It really blows my mind how people can squander money. And, if they didn't, it's also amazing how much you can do with a small amount. I look back on my parents when I was growing up, and I'm in awe of what they did with what they had. Of course, they didn't waste anything. My mom never bought Tupperware storage containers--the plastic containers ice cream used to come in were perfectly fine. She washed and saved pie tins for baking, and, on the rare occasions we ate out, she brought home some extra paper napkins. She put the money we saved into good-quality food. We didn't have a satellite dish (cable wasn't available), long distance calls were a luxury (my mom preferred writing letters), and everyone around us had vegetable gardens ...

Considering the lower end Alcatel phones actually perform fairly well. I have a One Touch Fierce XL i keep as a backup and I could totally use it as my daily phone no problem.

Sure the screen is only 720p, but with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with a quad core snapdragon, it works quite well for the $110 I paid for it, actually handles multitasking better than my iPhone 6+ 128GB
