Ok, so no one can say now that the Republicans never did anything nice for us. . .

It was actually a bi-partisan measure.

As for Bush, it's not he has vetoed a piece of legislation yet so no worries there.

He has not vetoed a piece of legislation during his entire presidency is what I was trying to say.

LOL, yeah, thank God (Reagan) for signing statements, that way we never have that messy VETO business anymore, which just went to help make either our beloved king or our elected congress (or both) look foolish in the end. Now we're united (apparently)!

Yay! The Spanish-American war circa 1898 is finally PAID FOR! We finally OWN IT!!! Woo HOO!!!!

Just one thing, I wonder if that means we'll get a new tax to pay for this war (or WWI, WWII, etc?) or are they actually going to tax the resource we're getting from that region, to put the cost of its security where it belongs, instead of into our phone bills? (I just wish I knew why God put our oil under those other countries - 🙄 )

Amen to that. (sorry for the pun)

I really dont think thats a bad idea. In this day in age religious institutions should be like everything else: a luxury commodity, and therefore taxed.

I'm sure a lot of you are mad at that, oh well.

You're right, they haven't done anything nice for us.

For those of you who are as uneducated as the poster above me, what they have just done is create an immediate 13 billion dollar hole in our budget, along with a recurring 4 billion dollar+ hole yearly thereafter.

While I am not necessarily against getting rid of this tax, we need to find funds to replace that money in our budget that is already stretched farther than any other president in history has stretched it.

If you want to talk politics, talk about the record surplus we had 5+ years in a row with Clinton, and the record deficit we currently have. God forbid I have to pay an extra 1.75 a month for our nation to be in good fiscal health!

Yeah the Republicans had everything to do with that and the democrats could only sit back and watch right? none of them voted for anything. they just want the job, not the work. Don't be pissy because the libs lost a TON of elections because their politics really don't work. We also had a record surplus in taxes. AKA money taken from american citizens and held without interest. Talk about the fact that Clinton didn't have to deal with 9-11. But you're right. You're the smart one. ALL BOW TO SOCIALIST DICTATOR JCHEEK! or do you prefer chancellor, commy.

And also, while we're at it, let's expand federal government some more so that no one but the clowns we elect really have any choice on what goes on in their own neck of the woods. Our government as set up so that the states were theoretically more powerful than the federal government to begin with, but we've forgotten all about that because when we don't get our way we go a cry federal courts to get our way while ignoring the views of people around us. So now the feds are the mommy of our government when daddy , the state government, won't let us do what they didn't want us to do because mommy has to be more sympathetic.

You just made a whole lot of assumptions about me.

I did not (and do not) affiliate myself with any party or political ideology. You just categorically grouped my beliefs along with the views of a sub-section of our population based on your narrow view of politics. Politics are not black and white, there is a large area of grey in the middle. I am in that grey. That doesn't make me unintelligent, that makes me something other than a tool of one party.

Why would you assume that my view of our need for fiscal responsibility as a nation automatically classifies me as a federalist? Or, as you said, a "SOCIALIST DICTATOR," "chancellor," or "commy." Whatever that means. I am confused as to how you rationed that out?

This isn't a po...

Oh wow, I am so sorry to double reply. I was annoyed that you did it, but I absolutely have to do it myself now that I have read your avatar.

Here it is, for those not familiar:

"Ever play poop dollar? where you put poop on a dollar and set it out on the street and wait for someone to come pick it up. Then when they do you yell, "POOP DOLLAR!!" If they figure out that it has poop on it they get freaked out and pissed. Very funny. If they don't get it and pocket it I'll guarantee it was worth the dollar."

Yeah, that's who I want deciding how we run the country. I didn't realize that I was arguing with a 12 year old, though I should have based on his grammar skills and intellect.

Come back after you get through at least a year of...

rytiffany,

This tiny tax repeal was like giving you a quarter while taking a $20 out of your pocket. Your 'conservative' president is spending more money (and our honor?) than any past president, republican or democrat. They're doing it by increasing the deficit, which is like taking value out of the dollars you already hold. Because you still have the same number of dollars, you don't feel the sting, but the dollars we all carry now are worth less, because there are more of them. And if we keep selling dollars to foreign nations to pay for our wars, we'll have to go to war with ...

That's isn't a measure of intelligence anyways. If anything it shows that I put more thought into picking up a dollar than did you previously. I understand how expensive things are, chief. I've been living on my own for 7 years now. I did that crap living in the dorms. 6 years ago. I've moved on to poop $20 now. Sorry I didn't give my life story since that point in my life. Since you've just grouped me with 12 year olds because of what I said previously you are doing exactly what you got mad at me for doing to you. Now you're a hippy too. Get some dreds, some smelly ass pants, a "Bush lied" bumper sticker, some odd colored teddy bear stickers to dance in your rear window, forget to bath/shave/groom for a few days and you're almost ...

Yeah the Republicans had everything to do with that and the democrats could only sit back and watch right?

You do understand that when the President is of the same political party as the majority in the House and Senate, that the opposing political party can't put the brakes on every piece of legislation that comes out of the House and Senate.

Remember checks and balances? The President is supposed to serve as a check on the House and Senate, but that has yet to happen in this administration by the President failing to veto a single piece of legislation.

It works both ways though, the House and Senate should serve as a check and balance on the executive branch. Of course, once again, party lines run str...
