apple hasnt offered an 8 GB in quite some time now they will most likely continue to offer a 16, as most manufacturers will since not eveyone needs a lot of storage.

But think about it who really neeeds that much storage, its a really small market for it and not really worth it to most to manufacture it, maybe over time it will

Um... anyone who takes many pictures at all or who wants to keep music and other media on their phone *without* paying hundreds (plural) of dollars extra will need the extra storage space. When the OS takes up at least 50% of the storage space, you tend to have a problem with the space. Not to mention, the total cost of increasing the storage space is what, maybe $2-3 per phone? That's certainly a big deal for a company making the largest profit margins off of each phone (also known as "charge higher and higher for the product compared to the effort it takes to make and sell it").
