No offense but GSM gets lots of love. GSM phones are normally *always* cooler than cdma phones. It took them forever to come out with a razr on cdma... and Sprint just lags behind everyone, coming out with the A900 "blade" this past christmas. Also you guys have the slvr and itunes on your phones. And the list goes on.
I think GSM gets plenty of love. I think you can live without a Treo.

Lets see... the RAZR is one of the most problematic phones the world has ever seen. The blade does everything the RAZR does, but BETTER. And, why would you want iTunes on your phone when there is a significant lineup of Sprint phones that let you use MP3s? Not to mention downloading full length songs OTA. GSM isn't as blessed as you think. All this and we haven't even gotten on the technology...

The razr is one ofthe best selling phones the US has ever seen....it has great RF, it's slim, nice design, fabulous battery lifeand it has features that people want, and the GSM version works in other countries....me thinks that there are a ton of sprint reps out there with sour grapes wishing they had the razr too ๐Ÿ˜ˆ and an international standard to operate on ๐Ÿ˜ณ

You are right... the RAZR is one of the best selling. Doesn't make it the best. Also, keep in mind that it wasn't Motorola that kept the phone out of Sprint Stores... it was Sprint. Not only that Jar-Jar... I don't know of any Sprint employee that wishes they had teh RAZR. Can you listen to MP3s on the RAZR? So why would a Sprint rep want that over the Blade... not to mention "On Demand," EVDO coverage (better than VZW), better reliability... there aren't many ppl with a RAZR that haven't had problems. In fact, the ppl that refurb handsets had to create a department entirely for the RAZR. I'm just saying. I appreciate your belief in GSM and I'm glad Cingular serves you well where you are... but that doesn't make the facts go away.

Personally I carry a GSM Treo which does everything I need, including suspending a data session to allow an incoming call, and using my phone overseas.

Sprint's coverage is no where near as good as Cingular's, that combined with an overall lack of spectrum on Sprint's behalf, and the deployment of HSPDA will put Cingular even further ahead. Not to mention building penetration. Without an in-building solution or a tower VERY near, Sprint's 1900mhz can't penetrate buildings nearly as good as Cingular's 850mhz. I always laugh at CDMA users when they drop their calls in an elevator...my GSM keeps a nice signal and more importantly, the call going.

I realize you are a Sprint employee and trying to defend your company's honor, and that's ...

You crack me up. And to think... we could've been friends. lol... the funny part about that is that I came to work for Sprint AFTER being a customer. I also used T-Mobile and Cingular before I came to Sprint; so I speak with first hand experience, not as a brainwashed employee. (That is what we keep Alltel employees around for.) Anyway, my poor mis-educated friend... we do not claim to be the cheapest... that would be TM. We are cheaper than VZW sure, and only a slightly better priced than Cingular (on voice plans). We do have the most user friendly plans and the best data plans available.

I am also confused as to how you think HSPDA will "put you further ahead" of anything. The HSPDA network that Cingular is rolling out right now is onl...

Actually if you're using the latest ROM version, the Treo is VERY stable. I'm running a Cingular 650 with the latest ROM (MR2 - 1.17), haven't had any of the issues I had with the other versions. As a matter of fact, it's now my most reliable device.

Cingular will be getting several new Treo devices in the next few months...they are taking a little longer to complete as they will be slightly different form factor than the CDMA versions (no external antennas :-)

I don't think you'll see a GSM Treo 700p until Cingular rolls out their HSDPA network in more markets. The CDMA Treo 700p supports 3G data on CDMA networks (i.e. EVDO) so it would make sense for the GSM Treo 700p to support 3G data on GSM networks (i.e. HSDPA/UMTS). Plus the current GSM Treo 650 already supports EDGE so there would be no point in releasing a Treo 700p that only supports EDGE.
