Alls I know, and alls I keep saying, is that GSM service sucks in most major cities. I'm not a fanboy of any mobile technology ('cept Helio lately) but CDMA owns GSM in a crowded metro area, especially in buildings.

Plus, don't they mean an AT&T MVNO? After eating AT&T Wireless and turning it into Cingular, word is that they're going BACK to AT&T. Can you say customer confusion?

Funny how the most expensive cellular service is also the most ghetto. Then again most folks with this much scratch to blow have people that also print out their e-mails for them, so I guess they can't be expected to grasp technology overall...

Same people that pay for "e-mail for millionaires"!

People don't choose to be poor. People choose GSM. Nice try at the analogy though, budro.

I don't know about GSM being so great. I understand there are a lot of people who enjoy it, use it, and swear by it, but I live in Arizona and all I know is Cingular voice drops out here like no other. I can't travel from one place to another and talk the whole way there. Its a guarantee that it will cut out. Any CDMA carrier (Verizon, Alltel, Sprint) works better than any GSM carrier, from my experience.

Oh really? Did you talk to them all? Are you aware that studies have shown people will stick with lousy service because they're concerned that another carrier will be just as lousy? And we're talking the US here. GSM can't beat CDMA in a lot of environments, most notably major cities and in buildings. So while European GSM may absolutely pwn, we're not talking about Europe, we're talking USA.

Just because you had a lousy experience with GSM doesn

Invader J said:Look, I'll make it simple so you don't need to whip out your Cingular Fanboy Stick again. Take your Cingular phone, and take a Sprint phone, and walk into a few buildings in NYC. Cingular's signal drops, Sprint's doesn't. T-Mobile's is even worse. I'm not making anything up, you can do this yourself for proof.
CDMA or GSM does not have really anything to due with quality or building penetration. That is all on how a network is built. Verizon network is still after all these years still sucks in WI while Cingular's is so much better and getting better all the time. different regions in the US have different providers with the best network. The one with the best network gets the customers.

As far as CDMA vs. GSM goes in the SF Bay Area with the recent decline in VZW's tri-mode handsets their "network" hasn't been as "reliable" as it used to be, my friend works for VZW COR in daly city and she doesn't have reception in her own store! Cingular however does pretty well out here and even along the coast from Santa Rosa area to Monterey, etc. T-Mobile is GSM also but they're coverage is really lacking in the westcoast. I won't even talk about Sprint's service in this area, it doesn't even work in the 3 our of 5 malls my buddy and I went to this week... too bad he's in contract but they did have the lowest deposit amount for his bad credit, lol. But like any area, some providers are better than other but what I've noticed is that ...

Cingular's network has the least number of dropped calls because Cingular said so...does anyone know who this "independent, third-party tester"?! Screw cingular, I'm signing up for Voce...at least I know their coverage is good because they said so too

If anyone can find where the independent person is who did this test, let me know...is it Telaphia??

where have you been? it's telephia

vzw's best network is tested by actulal vzw employees and everyone seems to believe that.

do you honestly think vzw will admitt anyone is better than them and they did the testing themselves 😳 ?

NO!

Oh thats right..probably because it's being run by an 8th grader who uses your thousands of dollars on internet porn and buying soda at vending machines.

Please..tell me you didn't really pay for that da*n account.
