buy a Verizon handset without a contract and unlock it to be used on another carrier?

Yeah... but don't expect to use all the features of the phone. If say you had a Voyager... you will be limited to Voice and Text messaging. No Web, navigation, No pix messaging.

You can do this now. Verizon doesn't lock their post-paid phones, just their pre-paid phones. They leave the access codes as the manufacture default, 000000. Hope you find someone that knows how to program it though if you try this. 🙂
