Expensive

For the average consumer, this will be too expensive. No average person is going to leave their network for this. Of course, us wireless dorks might! Most people are still amazed that I can check my email on my phone haha.

Umm, with Verizon they also have blocks in place for adding your own content. Helio gives you an app that will convert and download right to your phone/t-flash card.

You also had to qualify access to MySpace with "via mob web", so that doesn't count (not that I give a crap about MySp.)

Helio also has unlim. videos, unlim. online music "browsing" (who cares about browsing it?), unlimited TEXT, PERIOD, not just the "IN" network crap, unlim. bandwidth usage, works on Sprint's network which IMO is more than comparable to Verizon's (on a road trip to NOLA, our VZN phones had no signal for at least swaths of 1-2 hours, whereas our Sprint phones were fine all the way.)

Plus 100 more minutes than what you stated.

Not trying to defend He...

Helio works on Sprints network ONLY, which is very small.. the reason your sprint phone worked is cuz of roaming agreements.

And you're right, you can't compare, vzw is a much better deal, you get a much better value for your $85.00 with vzw

Barry I'm glad VZW works for you, and that your happy with it $85.00 for what you get is a good deal to you and thats great. Now the reason why we have multiple carriers out there is because there are things people don't like about each carrier if its phones or coverage or features everyone will have a different opinion. I'm a former VZW and employee and I left my job there because I felt VZW was not going in the right direction for data features mainly blue-tooth along with some other things. I am very happy that helio has taken these price points I think the mark is right on and that they will find plenty of users that will buy there service.

For me its a very viable option, and I'm currently on VZW. I like the phones Helio has, I...

Huh? Helio has the same voice roaming as SPCS postpaid. Data doesn't work when roaming off the SPCS network, just like with straight SPCS service...but SPCS has much more EV-DO population coverage than VZW right now (VZW still has no EV-DO in quite a few *large* cities.)

helio wants to be the network for us wireless dorks. they aren't going after the average user. they aren't going after the free-phone crowd. helio is specifically targetting technology freaks. they've said that all along. and although you might think that's a bad thing, you were able to nail exactly that point. i guess they knew what they were doing.

Personally, I think Helio is right on par with the other carriers. I was thinking the samething in comparing them to Verizon Wireless.

With Helio's pricing, EVERYTHING is included PLUS MORE MINUTES! 😲

I am seriously considering converting when my contract is up this summer with Verizon Wireless.

Helio is a serious contender and viable option! 😉

I never claimed it was a bad value, it's just more than I need. I'd use the web option and texts, but I don't talk too much, nor pic message. I'd like to see plans with less minutes, but still has the web access. I guess I'm in the minority: heavy data with little talk. Sprint has way more EVDO coverage in Delaware and similar coverage to Verizon which is good. I hope Helio does well, as someone said, it is the network for us dorks!
