and what phone supports this spectrum...?
Why would they choose to broadcast in the 700 MHz range? What phone supports this? Seems like a lot of work when you can just get streaming TV off UMTS/EVDO.

new phones are coming (like the htc foreseer we previewed at ctia), which will support some mobile tv provider's service. all services (modeo, mediaflo and hiwire) are all in the 700 mhz range.

At CES, Nokia mentioned that Cingular would be testing out DVB-H this summer/fall, and this is DVB-H.

I believe Crown Castle and Cingular have been testing Modeo in the Pittsburgh market for about a year now.
There was a news release about it here on PhoneScoop a good while back.

First of all this will be much better than what's out currently because there won't be any buffering, yeh to that! ! !
Handsets will be available supporting the 700mhz band when the network is complete, and testing is finished, possibly this time next year.

It doesn't require data, so video signals will be much better then relying on a data feed.
