The Merits program is available only in VZWs Midwest area (OH, MI, IL, etc) and is available to you based on your price plan and length of service. If you qualify, you will get a mailer.

It does give you earlier upgrade (discounted) pricing, among other things, but will likely do you little good as this phone is likely a ways off. I would guess Q4 at earliest.

FYI my friend, merits is available in more than just the midwest. I used to work for Verizon in Colorado and we honored the merits program. Sorry to burst your bubble 🙄

Hey guys, long, long time member, before most people knew about Phonescoop, and before Verizon execs found out about the site and summarily started scanning it. Also before I ever worked for Verizon, but I do work for Verizon in Colorado right now. I have for a little over a year before that I was with Verizon in the Midwest. I can tell you for a fact that the Merits program exists (to the bane of my existence). Merits customers are offered a one year upgrade on the primary line minus the New Every Two Credit. And for Peet's sake will everyone stop complaining about VZW policy. I guarantee that there are plenty or reps that are not fond of many of them either but it is life, it is all money and let's face it even the complainers are not...

Right on. Although when I worked there and didn't agree with the policy, I found it to be pretty fair. I don't know of any other carrier that just gives $100 loyalty credit for renewing. If used correctly, you can get one hell of a deal! Oh, and most of the time if you ask for something in a civil manner, you can get reps to bend the rules a little. Believe me when I worked in the store, I made sure that it did NOT pay off to be a prick.

since this has turned into an employee discussion. we have merit customers in the northeast(I2K) it gets the cust 25% off accessories, free activation on add on lines, and free phone book transfers. it does not however have any bearing on upgrades that i'm aware of. separately we have the early upgrade policy for $70+ lines that states after having a phone for 1 year on a 2yrct you get sale price but you have to pay a 20 processing fee. This is also listed as a 1 time per customer type deal.

also, they say that they factor paying your bill on time if for merit program eligibility. not sure if they're calling it merit in all regions but giving different benefits.
