Jitterbug MVNO Targets Seniors
Slowing the tide...

What's wrong with targetting to seniors? I'm glad they're finally coming out with phones that an older person can use. My grandparents kind of need one, just in case their away from home and they need to get ahold of someone. Current models are too fancy and difficult to use. Too bad Sprint's not carrying this, but, oh well.
There's nothing wrong with targeting seniors when it comes to products seniors use. I see older folks using cell phones all the time, but I don't think they're necessarily discerning when it comes to choosing cell phones. It doesn't seem like the brightest business venture to me.
Large keypad, dial tone, reminds them of their home phone. Nothing new to learn. This is brilliant in my opinion.

Not sure if you are in cellular sales, but I can tell you that every "over 50" person who walks into my store would pick this up in a heart-beat.

Hum,
After reading about GreatCall in the CTIA coverage, I've taken back my remarks. They seem to have done their research.
It takes a big person do admit their faults. Kudos to you, nobody's perfect! 😁

Thanks.
My first reaction was "do the elderly really care what technology or network they're using?". I'm assuming the advertising will persuade them.
My grandparents would be in their target audience. They MIGHT have used 30 minutes in a month once.... and they are on a 400 minute plan with unlimited nights/weeekends.
A friend of mine gave his monthy phone to his father. He might use 10 minutes per month.
If they offer a plan that's dirt cheap, with a low minute bundle, they could make a killing.
I get seniors in all the time that want a phone that is almost only emergency use. Usually 2-3 per day.
It will be nice if/when we have something that is attractive to them.

and from sprint of all companies, all those old people are gonna be mad their phone doesnt work.
That's a pretty broad generalization that simply isn't true.
I guess it's all in where you're using the service. Sprint MVNOs don't work all that well here either. It's just that when you leave the larger metropolitan areas, Sprint's service area is just smaller, look at the map! I work just north of Charlotte, NC and it's not too bad here in town, but you go about 10 minutes east or west of here, and you'd be off network, or at least, not have much signal.
It's just all in where you are... I don't suppose they'd be selling these in upstate Maine? My VZW didn't even work there!
The company I work for sells everyone. And boy, I mean everyone. 5 contract carriers and 8 pre-paids. It's just flat out harder for me to sell a Sprint (or a Sprint prepaid) here...
