Wizard finally has UMTS!!!

Yeah, it's great that HTC has a UMTS ready 8125, but Cingular (AT&T) need to get their act together and offer UMTS to more markets first. After all, a UMTS phones does you no good if you live in a GPRS only area.

We (both US-based customers of Cingular in specific and US-based customers of GSM-based providers in general) have what I currently understand is a long way to go before we have actual wide-spread/ubiquitous 3G network support, and that is a crucial component of what makes devices such as the proposed Hermes really worth it. Without a high-speed 3G network, there really is precious little difference between the Wizard and Hermes platforms.

it's not difficult for Cingular (or any other major wireless company) to launch new services/technology as long as everything is going good in the test markets... they just want to make sure that there are the least amount of issues affiliated with the technology before launch. Look at sprint/verizon with ev-do, after a few months in test market it was easy for them to do a nationwide launch when it was ready.
