well there are 2 implacations..

1. if verizon were to buy out vodafone's stake they would obviously have to make up for the hefty $50+B price tag which means probably that customers would have to pay more for their services to make up.

2 however, on the other hand, since there might be some synergies, al though not a lot, one can think to try to under cut the new T merger, they would try to under price against them, but i dont think they have a shot at that.

so; so its difficult to tell whether or not the prices will go up or down becuase as mentioned before they need to spend a fortune for vodafone's stake and number 2 T is a lot better then verizon and to undercut them might be impossible with T's network.

its too difficult so...

come up with what?

SBC bought out AT&T which later changed their name to AT&T, instead of SBC. then AT&T (formely known as SBC) bought out BellSouth.. the name will stay AT&T.

thus; T, SBC and BellSouth are one company.

It means that VZW can go GLOBAL BABY! 🙂 Maybe they'll have a really good north america plan. I don't think customers will pay the bill here, since 45% of the profits go to voda, the cost will be made up within a few years... whats another 40bn to vz 🙂

they wont go global. lol.. this is just the stake that vodafone already owns which means they will just own 100% of verizon wireless. it could be that they have roaming deals internationally, but every carrier has that..

I was just throwing something HUGE out there.. I don't think they'd go Global.. but could start sending their signal across the border to Canada.. now that would be nice! It's so funny, I drive to Canada 2 times per month, I get full bars at the border, once I cross, BAMMM it goes into roam and there is nothing I can do to get a VZW signal. But I guess it's vzw CAN'T have any service outside the US do to an agreement with voda. If this deal goes thru, i wonder what it'll mean to vzw employees.. maybe they'll get some really good txt msg services 🙂 lol -- just dreaming

oh hahah.

i threw something huge out there by saying why not have verizon buy the whole vodafone company.. i already explained my reasoning in my past posts as well as their combined assets. i think it would be worth it becuase they would be such a strong global company with hands in every market.

i think after verizon takes care of this little problem with either buying out vodafone's stake or even buying out vodafone as a whole, which is only $100B more which isnt too bad, then i think verizon should focus on a few providers in united states. they are, alltel, qwest (when it goes chapter 11), sprint's embarq and others and then focus on the north and south of the united states and buy some other companies to expand their footprint e...

that would be cool, but VZW sold their 20% steak they had in Telus... so I don't think they would go after them after cutting ties. I think it would be cool... especially for me since I travel there often 🙂

well, i know they sold it, but they could always buy them out right..

i also think it would be cool buying telus and buying a latin america company.. i mean this market is becoming saturated so companies must do something to expand whether its globally or domestically but north or south of the boarder...

it would be cool 🙂

i agree! I know that vzw owns part of a cell phone co in mexico.. i'm not sure how much or the name of the co right now, but maybe they'd do some switching around. I keep checkin the news to see if voda accepts the offer!! they need to HURRY! 🙂

Because its this kind of mis-infomation that makes all of our jobs harder. If we continue to tell people the wrong things, who does that affect, us or them? Customers = cattle. They move into whatever they are told to move to; if the infomation is bad, we continue this evil circle of ignorance. Being good in the wireless industry requires you to know your stuff, and to tell customers that stuff. Customers feel like geniuses when they regurgitate what we tell them, and in turn who do you think they are telling? They are telling those people who we can then get as customers. MONEY!!!! If you mis-inform, then not only do you look like a fool, but also the company you represent.

i dont think its mis-information that he said, becuase it is true that verizon should improve on their network by buying out some smaller united states carriers, which in fact they have been doing.. (such as buying qwest's assets and others) i think he meant that verizon wireless should expand to canada.

i understood what he was talking about, perhaps it is just best to be calm and ask what he meant instead of going irate.

Just buying Voda's stake in VZW won't create a situation for VZW to go global! LOL! 🤣

In order for the purchase to allow Verizon Communications to go global, Verizon can't just buy Voda's stake in VZW, Verizon Communications would have to buy out Voda itself! Lol! 🤣

Actually, VZW was chartered as a domestic company, not an international one. This makes sense, as competing internationally means competing with vodafone. However, with vodafone out of the picture, who knows what might happen? VZ comm owns some interest in some other markets abroad, but they are distinct entities from VZW. VZW customers roam on VZ Puerto Rico when they visit the island, for instance.

exactly my point.. if verizon buys out verizon wireless then as you said they would have to compete against vodafone if they decide to go international which is inevitable. when they go internationally by buying stakes or what not, verizon wireless i mean, they will compete with vodafone and obviously vodafone is a bigger company both asset wise and customer base wise and vzw has no chance against them. that is why earlier i thought that it would be a good idea to just buy the whole company for an extra $100B on top of the $40+B they are unofficially offering for voda's stake in vzw.

it makes most sense.

There was a news report that talked about another group that was talking about buying out vodafone. 100 billion pounds sterling, or $173 billion. There was concern that noone was able to pony up more than 5 bill in equity. That might "drain the debt market." Seems like even for the big boys, $100 billion is a bunch.

has you realized lately that whenever there is a buyout especially more then $10 billion it is all either 1. borrowed and/or 2. in stock and no one pays "cash" anymore for anything. i have talked about that in the past.

that was a fake bid, and we see them all the time and they mean nothing.

VC's have always been interested in buying companies and they usually do, but for vodafone, it wont happen. many VC firms, especially combined, have $5B in equity, but it is too risky to get into vodafone right now..

but, a company like verizon, would be a great play for vodafone as previously explained. 1. gives them $80+B in assets (network and spectrum), a global footprint, one of the best worldwide brand name and company in vodafone, and ...
