I would think they would try to improve the photo quality before they raise the MP output. I would take a really high end 5mp photo then a 10mp thats just soso. Tho 10mp is HELLA big for rez ....lower the rez and just make the photos better. that would make us all happy

Samsung has been notorious for this marketing ploy of late. They've been using overall inferior camera technology and tweaking one or two specs to make it look like they have the most badass cameras on cell phones. I personally tried the SCH-a970 (first cell phone with optical zoom) and it took about a second of holding down the button in order to take a still shot. The shutter was really slow too, so often times, you wouldn't be able to capture someone's facial expression right cuz it would take the picture too late, and the pictures would often be blurry.

Atleast they're doing SOMETHING, though. Other than Samsung, nobody's really breaking the 2 megapixel barrier and nobody has tried optical zoom yet. 10 megapixels and 3x optical z...

After reading further on Samsung's recent work, I take back what I said. These new camera phones appear to have the quality of a standard 3-5 megapixel digital camera, and it's about time somebody made a camera phone that actually takes normal quality pictures.

I agree with the original poster that 10 megapixels is excessive, especially when the camera can only take pictures of an inferior quality. This just ends up wasting memory. Thankfully, though, I just think that Samsung is staking a claim as a pioneer and once a phone like this is released in the US market (which unfortunately is always last) they'll forget about megapixels and go for quality.

By the way, does it bother anybody else that Asia already has a dozen or so 3+ mega...
