SE's physical design sense is really smoking right now, rivaling Motorola's. I really dig the W and Z series...but I can totally do without this whole music player hype.

You seem to be a very knowledgeable guy, so I thought I would pose this to you. Rich can add his thoughts also. I live in Central Georgia, had the S710, and it was by far the worst reception phone I've ever owned. Perhaps the K790 will be different. It as EDGE, but no 3G, but is there really that much of a difference, if only using the phone for internet activity, as opposed to tethering it to a laptop?? I tether my Nokia 6682 to my laptop once in a blue moon, and the phone is sufficient. And I do that with the Media works, not the higher priced data plan.

Yes I get better rates with my phone tethered to my laptop than I do just surfing with my 6682. Yes every SE phone I've had gets worse reception and way more dropped calls than any other phone I've ever had, even the S710.

Huh. Then I'd guess wherever you live isn't conducive to using SE products. Oh well, it happens. You'll always see faster speeds and load times on a laptop...your handset has to configure everything before it renders the information. A laptop's browser software is far more standardized.

Reception is something that varies on all handsets. I don't care what brand or model. I had horrible problems with the V600 back in the day but generally no problems with the Razr, only to see reception problems again with the Slvr.

The first thing you want to replace if necessary is the sim card. I highly recommend a new 3G sim card made by Oberthur and not Gemplus. Not only are these the newest sim cards available for Cingular, they also support UMTS when available.

I have owned a few different Sony Ericsson phones started with the t616. The phone had great features for three years ago but got horrible reception. I then purchased an s710a which I had great reception with, pretty much on par for the most part with the Razr. Whi...

The new GUI used in the 6102, 6061, and the 6030 is just way too complicated for older cell phone users that previously owned Nokia's products.

I too, agree with your thoughts on the new GUI. A lot of needless difficulty layered on. Oh well, something new to learn.
