I just checked, $50 for the line and $50 for 6gb of hotspot. So, $100.

Tmobile charges $80 for plan and 7gb hotspot. The $10/2gb. So for the same $100, you would get 11gb of hotspot...

Or you could just get the hotspot from your phone without going through the carrier and save $50 bucks.

But then you'd be stuck on Sprint's crappy network... I left Sprint last year because the fastest LTE speed I could get was 15mbps. On Tmobile, I get 60mbps.

I'm in San Diego, CA. so not in the middle of no-where....

Well I have AT&T. I pay $40 a month. Unlimited Data and tethering and get service everywhere I go. I live in the Inland Empire so also not in the middle of no-where. I would never want to be on T-mobile and worry about my coverage and pay double what I'm paying now.

you must have rooted your phone then because AT&T unlimited plans do not include tethering/hotspot feature

yup. You know how long it took me? 5 seconds. Why pay the company more money for stuff that you are already paying for?

IF you can get away with it. They have a system in place that attempts to identify those subscribers that are utilizing the hotspot on the unlimited plans. If the system identifies you then you will get an automated message warning you that your data plan could be forfeit if you continue the practice. Of course, I don't know what variables it uses to identify perpetraitors, but I imagine there is loop hole to be exploited ;-) The cake is a lie, afterall.

In 6 years of doing this I've only heard a handful of people getting caught.

I don't doubt that. I've only personally known two people; however, by the same token I've only ever known a few people that have bothered to make the modifications necessary to enable the tethering. It follows then that the actual turnover rate on catching perpetraitors isn't particularly bad. Of course, that's my experience and I've only been in it for 5 years. You may know many more people who've attempted those modifications than I do.

thats not really that impressive. now if they would expand their coverage and have better coverage than att then that plan would be ompressive. all tmobile is doing is trying to cover up that they have ****ty service by having cheaper plans

that may be true but when i had tmobile last month i would never get the speeds they advertise and i was on the 80 dollar unlimited plan and the coverage sucked this last time would make the third jumped from tmobile for me i will never use their service ever again and will not recommend it to anyone. when they say you should be getting lte in the area they say they have lte and you get edge or no service how are they going to say they have a better 4g lte network than att or verizon **** sprint is way better that tmobile on speeds and coverage

I tried verizon for a month, their service sucks, voice quality sucks, and their prices suck. I switched back to t-mobile, got the $650 credit and I still have the $400 credit from verizon when I first ported from t-mobile. My monthly veryzon bill was $236 a month for 2 lines (wigth EDGE) with 15GB of data because 10GB weren't enough. The truth is that verizon service compared to t-mobile's service is not worth an extra $100 a month. Also verizon speeds in NY so far suck compared to t-mobile. I'm not talking coverage here, because as far as I could tell, both carriers had the same coverage, but the quality of the coverage I rather have tmobile. Nobody could understand me and I couldn't understand them on verizon's crappy network, with t-mobi...
