Yet Another "Plan"

Wasn't Network Vision supposed to be the plan? Wasn't their 800Mhz network supposed to be the saving grace of coverage in-building and connect the gaps between coverage?

I sit here and think of Sprint much like a meth addict, starting so many new projects and never finishing the ones before, and if they do finish them, they are haphazard, rushed, and lacking substance, the easy road out.

You could look at it in a couple of ways.

Vision and Spark were began before the Softbank merger, so this is the new regime's plan.

It's a case of not standing still and trying to get ahead of the game. By not waiting for existing initiatives to end before planning new ones, you keep up with technology.

I'm not saying I have faith that Sprint will accomplish their stated goals, but it's clear that standing still or just waiting for existing rollouts to complete isn't going to push them ahead

Sadly this does read like 2005, the skies the limit. Nextel, Wimax, now here we are. I will watch ,and if it's true this time then I'll come back from Verizon.

"We've gained a new appreciation of the steepness and height of the mountain," SoftBank President Masayoshi Son told an earnings news conference Tuesday, referring to the task of getting the unit into shape.

Understatement award to Son.

Just curious, assuming Sprint is some day able to equal Verizon's network, why would you switch back to Sprint from Verizon? Just for variety, or for old time's sake, or are you having issues with VZ?

It probably depends upon the cost. If the two are equal in network and Sprint is cheaper then switching would make sense.

I often wonder why people ignore the positives of some of the moves Sprint made.

Nextel helped score Sprint the needed 800Mhz spectrum for its network and going with WiMax allowed Sprint to keep spectrum it would've lost if it had waited for LTE.

You can look at a glass half empty or half full.

There is some validity to what you say, i.e. the power of positive thinking. However, no customer who was with Nextel will ever consider Sprint in a positive light, because from the perspective of the former Nextel customer, Sprint has been absolutely nothing but bad news, nothing but loss, nothing but disappointment, nothing but disgusting. Speaking for myself, I can testify that ab...

Exactly. And the astonishing thing is this--Sprint has more spectrum assets and towers then it knows what to do with. And yet their network is still an abomination. What a waste.
