i think its great they finally realize what people want. but why make them pay $60.00 bucks for it. why cant they just make it a cheaper add on? or just let folks get the $15.00 vcast pack and let them teher that to a pc but slow the connection down?

so how will this work? is one going to have to pay the $15.00 for v-cast and $60.00 for the data plan? or just the $60.00 which i'm guessing and hoping.

it would be nice if the included these phones in on the voice and data choice bundles.

yup, it is kinda of a rip. At leaste when you have a blackeberry 7130 and paying $45 a month for data on it you only need to pay $15 for the unlimited tehthering making your total for unlimited data on both device $60 bucks, not a bad deal. On your phone you pay $15 vcast+ 60 to hook up laptop for a total of $75 plus you tie up your phone line. They should have priced it at like $45 or brought out some kind of limited plan for light users. oh well, It like they broguht it out just to shut up the people complaining that it wasn't available and then priced it so high they hope no one even bothers using it.

The unlimited data connect from Cingular is $39.95 plus the cost of your base plan.

Look under "Data Connect", and you will see PDA connect with Unlimited access, for 44.99 with 5 dollars off. Which would make it 39.99. One could even hypetheticaly speaking, take the "PDA" sim card and enter it into the PCI Card?!?!?!??? 😳

I didn't agree with the statement that Cingular's and Verizon's were the same price. EV-DO is definitely faster than EDGE, but I'm not sure what the unlimited data plan is for those on UMTS/HSDPA either.

60 bucks !! Plus you STILL cannot do it via bluetooth. As if customers aren't pissed off enough. This is an insulting resolution and embarassing for Verizon. Unlimited data on Sprint is $39 to tether using bluetooth or cable. This plan was just announced..it used to be included in your internet package. The money-hungry Verizon strikes again. Also..if you get a pocket pc device on Sprint you don't need to buy a 39 plan..it's included with your $15 internet package and you can tether all you want. Nice try 😛

It would be foolish for Verizon to offer the service for $15/month. That's not how business works. You start higher, then lower the price when business slows. And remember, Verizon also offers traditional DSL service, so offering the wireless broadband at a lower price would kill their wire-based service.

their two seperat companies. the give a fig about each other. $15 to lower connection speed or make something a little more reasonable wouldn't be foolish.

To not milk every last dollar out of a brand new technology is foolish. Even though Verizon DSL and Verizon Wireless are separate divisions, do you honestly think the executives would want two, revenue producing products to be combined into one, ultra cheap service? Verizon has to at least make back the cost of the network upgrade before they can pull some outrageously cheap price like that. Even so, the monthly cost isn't even that horrendous considering the competition.

Verizon doesn't really need to make major price bre...

ok, if they need to make so much money back why isn't v-cast much more expensive? why isn't the technology that they need to make so much back spread all across "THE NETWORK"? , why are there more revisions of this costly technology to come if it cost so much?

its expensive because they don't want anyone to use their phones as modems not because "it's the network".

This is great news. It's less than $79.99 (price when Broadband Access first launched) and you dont have to buy an Aircard ($50-$$300 savings). Consumers are never satisfied. Why dont you Cheap scapes go to TMobile for less and get 15-30 time SLOWER speeds if Cost is a issue. This technology is GREAT. Who would have ever thought getting Broadband Speeds away from your home WiFi or Hotspots. Grow up, get a job, and Stop complaining. If you can't afford it, then dont get it.

cheap you say? i'm shocked. who in the hell whould pay that much to tether a damn phone to their pc? why would i pay to have my phone line tied up? i'd rather pay the $79. for b-band acc. as far as getting a job i did, ITS SELLING PHONES F**! affordability isin't a problem, we all know vzw is just tryna milk the situation.

so verizon just got rid of the unlimited in messaging pack at $5, so know you have to get the lowest $10, then if you want vcast $15, then the unlimited tehtheirng is 60 dollars. Lowest rate plan is 40 dollars with in. so 40+10+15+60= 125 for unlimited verizon to verizon calling and mesasging and unlimited data on your phone and tethered pda. It all sounds a little pricey. My whole point was they discount the tethering option to only $15 dollars when you have a blackberry and unlimited data! blackberry 7130e, 79.99 data bundle( equals $39.99 plan+unlimited data and email to headset) plus the in messaging $10 bucks+ only $15 dollars to tether= $105
So my point isn't so much the amount of money just the inconsistant pricing. They should have...

Ok here is a question, Who would be the one to use broadband on the road? Someone that does buisness on the road. What kind of phone might one have who does a lot of buisness and travels frequently? Blackberry? It makes plenty of sence, they are trying to appeal to a certain market of users. How much does nextel/sprint cost with thier blackberrys? Im sure they are just trying to steal more customers from nextel.

? that makes 0 sense. Why would verizon care what kinda of headset the consumer uses, verizon doesn't owe blackberry any favors. It might make a better arguement if the palm and microsoft products also offered a tethering solution and they don't yet. It also doesn't make sense becasue someone with a blackberry is abviously more likely to be a heavy user of data unlike a person with like an 8100 or whatnot that would probably only be taking up bandwidth every now and then. If you are a business man the needs your email as soon as it comes and you travel a lot you should get a pda, but this pricing screws those of us that don't need a pda and email, but would like to have broadband of of our headsets when we travel here and there maybe a few t...
