Finally caving in

Verizon must have just realized that most of their EV-DO handsets are more expensive then their aircards, and realized that it's just silly to not let people tether as long as they pay full price. Better late then never I guess.....

Baby steps to Bluetooth though...... 😕

Sprint has allowed EV-DO tethering since the phones were released. They even allow tethering via bluetooth (though it's not supported). Wonder why it took Verizon so long to cave in?

A day late in my opinion. And still a dollar short since BT isn't an option.

This is just another reason why I'm loosing my patience with VerizonSuccubus. Yes the service is rock solid (I"m in NY) but their pricing shows a total disregard for their customers. I'm getting itchy!

What good is a bluetooth connection using EvDO? The data transfer rates using bluetooth would make the EvDO connection seem like dialup, wouldn't it?

someone else posted something similar earlier, you bring up a good question.
Is there a kb per second limit using bluetooth or anything like that?

Bluetooth 2.0 allows for transfer speeds of up to 2.1 mbits/sec.........that is if Verizon ever releases a phone with 2.0. 🤣

Er, yeah. what's your guys' hang-up on the Bluetooth? while occasionally handy with, say, a palm pilot, have you tried using internet access through bluetooth? You're not going to get those EV-DO speeds anyway, it'll be funneled. What's the big deal, it's a minute detail and not a deal breaker since USB would get the data to and fro from the phone and end unit much quicker.

Verizon's always held a Nazi-like grip on their data offerings. They're caving in because too many of their customers are bitching.

no, i think they probably just realized that people were already hackng their 8100, mo710 and using their evdo for free so they figuered they may as well bring out a plan so they could collect some money for it. I just wish they would come out with a per minute or per kb rate for those of us that just want to use here and their. $60 bucks a month is a little expensive for something i would probably only use once or twice a month, and if i was going to pay $60 bucks a month i would just assume get an aircard and not tie up my phone.

Will be nice once BT is "allowed"... 🙄

At least Verizon is appearing to be slowly but surely caving into customer requests to allow us to use the technology the devices they sell were designed for...Took em long enough, but it is a step in the right direction.
