This is awesome. However, won't the issue of one format not working for every phone come into play here?

because you are buying the content from a portal and not a carrier, they can work around that problem. when you buy a ringtone or wallpaper or game, you aren't actually buying a specifically formatted set of bits. what you're really buying is content formatted to whatever your handset requires. so if you buy a kanye west mp3 ringtone for cingular and switch to verizon, you still have access to that same ringtone, only now in brew format.
