And I can't think of anyone who wants service from Sprint. Not that no one does, but I don't know of anyone.

I don't see this ending well. I suppose it's good for the laid-off RS employees in the short term, if they're hired back. Still, if I were in that position, I'd keep my resume up to date,

The majority of the people working there are current sprint employees who got transferred/forced/wanted to go. Doubt then the next wave of employees are part time people who are paid waaaaaaaay less.

Except the Sprint within a Shack sales reps get paid waaaay more than sprint direct reps. They can get tons of sales with this strategy, RS is the only electronics store in 100 miles for much of america, and there arent sprint direct stores in many of those locations.

Now whether They can make it work on not remains to be seen, a lot depends on their bonus/commission structure. Strangely enough, if you want reps to sell a lot, just pay them well for it.
A lot also depends on their training and management but it looks like they have a lot in place, these agents are getting better then the standard sprint training, 2 weeks in a classroom environment for some, so I wish them well.
