This is one of the sweet spots. This forces the larger telecoms to actually work for the consumers. If not, startups and these smaller companies will start witnessing a build in customer adds.

Know what is best at forcing companies to work for the consumer? Profits. If they stop working for the consumer they wont find themselves profitable for very long.

When you have a government endorsed monopoly and you are "too big to fail" profits are guaranteed. There is no incentive to either make a quality product or be competitive with your prices.

When you have more regulation it opens up more opportunity for favoritism by creating more road blocks for businesses that the government can allow easy pass for their buddies while the little guy without government connection has a much harder time.
