SDA not GSM 850? Why not the Faraday?

First of all I am new to this whole phone techie arena. I have used them for years but I have never been a phone junkie. These phones do look nice but I have noticed that the SDA is not GSM 850 compatable (if it is the model I am looking at) but the Faraday is. From what I understand T-Mobile has 1900 on all towers and is adding 850 to most. If this is true why would they add a phone that supports GSM 900 and not the Faraday that supports GSM 850 like Cingular does? Both phones are made by HTC so it's not a brand thing.
