I think "a media player" is the correct usage of the indefinite article. See definition below. Sorry, I couldn't resist. 
BTW - Haven't seen a Nokia phone that hasn't disappointed me.

Use 'a' with nouns starting with a consonant (letters that are not vowels),
'an' with nouns starting with a vowel (a,e,i,o,u)
