Because their proprietary ChatOn, Social Hub, Samsung Apps, Milk, and the like did so great. -_-

The technology is not quite proprietary - much like Google Wallet, Softcard and Apple Pay is not. Those are NFC technologies, and while the software that runs them is proprietary the actual technology of NFC is not, and as long as one is accepted, the other companies likely will be as well.

In the case of LoopPay, the software and technology will be proprietary to Samsung for the time being, but you never know, Samsung my license out, the software - even better, is if Magnetic becomes a set standard like NFC, or BlueTooth became. Magnetic will offer better compass, more accurate than the magnetic we have now, but also credit card processing, ATM access, stud and electrical finding in walls with new apps that can turn some strong IP rated ...

my work timecard has magnetic strip. it would be so awesome if i able to load my timecard into the phone and use the phone to clock in. it will impress lots of chicks ! 😎
