Gophone charges 60.00 for 4 GB but Cricket gives 10 GB for same price. Why such a disparity if both are owned by AT&T?

For sure, one thing is Cricket throttles data (LTE speed = 8 mbps, I think 3g/HSPA = 2 mbps). I'm guessing ATT proper doesn't do that.. 😳

I don't know about cricket but if I had to guess about the desperity I would say calling to mexico and Canada and texting around the world as part of the att plan accounts for the higher rate.

Because while they are both owned by at&t, they are still run as separate companies. Cricket sets its own prices and plans, and at&t sets its own prices and plans. at&t doesn't create Cricket's policies.

Cricket: Fighting brand against Metro PCS, T-Mobile Prepaid, Sprint, Boost, Virgin and MVNO-du jour. Cricket's purpose is to appeal to these customers without dragging down the AT&T brand.
AT&T: For brand aware people, those looking for non-speed capped service and those wanting to say 'I have AT&T, not ghetto wireless'.
For AT&T proper, Go Phone pricing needs to make sense in the context of postpaid options too. AT&T's post paid individual plans are really the head scratcher. Not sure why someone would choose one of their individual line postpaid options (more money for less) for a smartphone unless there's a coverage difference through roaming.
