Improvement, but still too Verizon-ish..

I'm not an iPhone user or lover, but since these will inevitably be compared to it, and promoted as the "iPhone Killer" (what a Verizon rep said to me the other day), I have to say, these are no iPhones. Just because you add a touch-screen to a phone, doesn't make it an "iPhone Killer". I think we will see every manufacturer start to come out with integrated touch-screens now that the technology has been developed (evolutionary, maybe).. But Verizon still suffers from their lame, restricted UI's. Although they have jazzed up the icons and menu's (somewhat), the review and pictures still indicate its not as fluid or developed as the iPhone. I think its an improvement by the handset-maker (LG), and I hope we begin seeing many more like th...

yeah I kind of agree with you...I have stated this before. The most revolutionary part of the iphone to me is not the touch screen, but the interface.

When you can touch an icon, and have instant weather or stocks...thats pretty cool. And no other phone can you get at that type of info that quickly.

In my opinion, The feature i'm looking most forward to is the newer user interface and the full HTML browser. I can't wait to see just how well Verizon can incorporate that type of browser into the phone. I'm trying to stay as upbeat and positive here as i can and untill I try out the touch screen for myself, well, I'll just have to see how it works.

A better term would be iPhone neutralizer. It has some better features then the iPhone such as a removable battery and a true keyboard and of course a faster network. What it will do is keep people from leaving VZ to go to ATT. Of course we all have to see the price. It comes with a slot but you still have to buy your own 8 GB card to make it equal. I would think it would have to be priced considerably cheaper then the iPhone.

donbp, i completely agree with you!!!! The few things the iPhone DOES NOT HAVE are the removable externam memory, removable battery, an actual mechanical keyboard thankfully the voyager still has that, of course as you stated the fast network of EVDO PLUS verizon has included the Mediaflo network for runing VCast TV which will be pretty cool. Hopefully it will be priced somewhat cheaper than the Iphone and sure, people will spend the money on the 8 gig. That's part of what makes the phone worth having if you ask me.

Where'd you hear that the Voyager will be $400 though? Even if it's close to the same, it'll still hopefully be comparable to the Iphone anyway...

In the Verizon forum.

Someone said that they saw on the Phone Scoop homepage that these four phones will range from $100-$400 with a new 2 year contract. So naturally this would be the $400 one.

Oh true true I do recall seeing that page as well. Good point. Even at around $400 i'm sure people will still be more than willing to buy the Voyager though. hahahaha

I would guess in the $150-$250 range just because of the fact that they haven't changed it too much from the GSM version. t-mobile sells the pearl for $100 on their website and you can find it for free on the internet with a contract. They haven't canged the name and the marketing is about the same so I would guess that it won't cost much more than $250.

What are you talking about ? I, for one, am tired of AT&T getting the cool phones...It's a terrible platform, reception is terrible, dropped calls are horrible, not to mention customer service is the worst at AT&T according to Consumer Reports...What was Steven Jobs thinking when he approached these companies and decided to go with the worst possible company there is to introduce his genius iPhone? What was he thinkin'? Verizon, at least in my area (Lakeland, FL) is by far, the best carrier there is. I can talk out of my house and people ask all the time "Are you on a landline?"...So, bring it on, Verizon. I hope you put AT&T out of business...

what are you idiots rambling about?
touc hscreen intigration, haptic feedback, BT stereo, VZnav, mediaflo, expandable memory, removable battery, MMS, downloadable on the fly songs, videos and backgrounds, a flash interface(that means multiple menu looks)full HTML browser...and man does all of that just suck, it doesn;t even cure cancer like the iphone does...hold your BT hatred for when it goes live...because there is nothing better than having ignorance explode on the landscape.

the people who complain about the interface...fixed flash Uis were introduced on all phones starting over a year ago minus motorola because motorola is a lazy slow ass company. BT, bt has always been unlocked on all smartphones, and on handsets it is slowly get...

hahah you're funny dude. Yeah Verizon totally re-did the Voyager and I personally can't wait to play w/ the phone and see how cool it's going to be. Screw the Iphone cause yeah as said before, even if it does have a nicely sized screen, eveything else sucksa bout it such as how you get on the internet and stuff. EVDO is going to rock the Iphones world in such a big way. That's all I've got to say. AT&Ts network sucks greatly. That's just the way it is.

I'm laughing at the title of this msg. I gues my Question would be how about if the phone were more Sprint-ish, or At&T-ish... would that be better? We we have to realize is that each company is individual and should be. Each company need to be abl eto personalize a device. While you may ne be fond of the UI that Verizon wireless has chosen, The net work is undisputably the best! So the UI on another company's pone my be what you want but can you use the phone? I mean get talk time?... This title is still very funny to me.
