The XP7 article in Phonescoop News (Jan 12th) said: "The XP6 is available now from AT&T. The XP7 is perhaps the more promising of the two, and we're told to expect it from a major U.S. carrier in a month or two. "

I'm interested in buying this phone and activating it on Verizon, combined with our PTT service by ESChat. That would get me as close as possible to the handset toughness and reliable PTT of good old Nextel, PLUS the coverage & reliability of Verizon's network, and all of the conveniences of a smartphone and speed of 4G.

From the XP7's specs, it looks like its radios are compatible with Verizon's networks. Does anyone know (a) is it technically possible to bring the XP7 to Verizon on a BYOD plan, and (b) if so, what it wo...

the phone is only made for GSM. Sprint and verizon uses CDMA. ATT and T-mobile uses GSM. They have this phone already in canada and they are used in Bell and Telrus, They are both GSM in canada, ATT has the xp6 not sure why they didn't get this phone... I heard this phone will release in the states side around march. In phonescoop there is review also a Sonim XP7 IS. Which is blue phone that can not ignite hazmat or extremely flammable places.

my opinion is verizon is expensive, sprint service sucks... I have att, I dont support them.. but I have been with them since 1999 so they dont charge me activation fees... so in order to use this phone... time to switch carrier!

If you go to the Phonescoop Specs page for the XP7, "Modes" section and click on "more details", it shows that the XP7 has a number of CDMA bands as well as GSM. Here's the link:

If you click on the "compare to" link and type in "Brigadier", it will compare the XP7 and the Brigadier from Verizon side-by-side, and it is obvious that the XP7 covers far more cellular bands than the Kyocera Brigadier. Here's the comp...
